I think less competitive than Carnera Baer. I think Schmeling would be more calculated. By the way what was story with Sharkey in their second fight? He looked horrible! I have never heard any back story why he came in so apparently out of shape!
I think it might be more competitive than many think .. Schmeling lacked Baer's size and strength. He wasn't the busiest guy on the planet .. He'd be favored but I think Carnera might hang around and give him some fight along the way ..
What do you mean? Which aspect of his performance was missing in the Carnera rematch? He went for the kill at times landing huge blows that he put everything into. He was trying to box, and fight, and win, but kept getting the worse of the exchanges. Carnera was focused, determined, and had his number.
Physically. He looks relatively flabby, mote like a bartender than the guy who fought Dempsey. I remember early on reading a story about him being out some sort of gathering of past champions of someone giving him a hard time about throwing the fight against Carnera and getting very upset, denying it saying he just got caught with an uppercut!
