    HWs

This is the best verison of Schmeling.......(obviously the best version of Langford at HW too)

That´s a tricky one. Schmeling has a size advantage but Langford was incredibly experienced with dealing with that. On the other hand another atg who was very experienced in dealing with bigger guys, while probably not quite as good as Langford, got beaten up badly aby Max while no other hw of the time managed to do that. So, we know Schmeling can utilise size advantge while Langford can overcome it. They can hurt each other. That´s for sure. Langford due to his great power and Schmeling due to his accuracy, speed, timing and methodology.
I cpnsider them to be on a similar level at hw. Schmeling might have the slightly more "modern", refined technique but Langford I might think was a bit tougher. There is not much to see from Langford, good footage anyway, and from that, his fight with Jeanette, he seems not have the best defence. Max has an advantage there.
So, if Max comes in as prepared as he did for Louis the first time around, I see him avoiding Langford´s knockout punch while landing his own right time and again. The ref might halt it earlier than his fight with Louis.
However, Langford is never to be counted out. One of his punches may turn it all around. This fight is nearly 50/50 I think. Good matchup.

Without more Langford footage this is tough, I'd lean towards Schmelling emulating Jack Johnson but you can't rule Langford out

You've never read Blackburns opinion of Sam.
    I would say undoubtedly!

Footage of SAM is unnecessary when you have someone of Blackburns stature doping a fight.

I would anticipate that Langford would take it.

Hm...Langford could take a helluva shot, and was quicker. Schmeling to me is kind of an enigma with his wins over Louis and stoppage of Walker but getting manhandled by Baer.

I lean towards Langford in a decision pulling it out late.

Trying to play the patient counterpuncher against Langford strikes me as a realy bad idea.

You would likley be starting something that he was going to finish.

Great fighters are not necessarily great predictors of fight outcomes.
Corbett always picked the wrong guy, Langford and Jeannette picked Jeffries to beat Johnson , Joe Louis couldnt pick his nose.Larry Holmes picked Hearns to beat Hagler.ect.

Langford was not counted out much , but he was on the floor quite a bit ,and he quit in a few fights.

The idea that he would just " out monster " Schmeling is false.
He could well be stopped in this one imo.
