We had a thread a while back about similar looking boxers, but do ANY at least completely unrelated boxers, & from different nations to boot, look as much alike? ESPECIALLY when a cursory examination shows *different* European ancestory. Max obviously German, Dempsey? His parents were of Irish, Scottish and Native American ancestry. Consider if they were not a little over a decade apart they could resemble each other This content is protected ? They also were not only both HWs, but the same listed height, & average weights throughout their careers virtually the same! Especially considering the literally hungry Dempsey likely was even lighter early daaaze but few weights were recorded. They also have almost identical KO%, & you can likely find more similarities. What can you find, & what do you think? Marciano certainly doesn't look as alike as Dempsey as Schemling, but, and I don't know if this is just me, I've noticed a resemblance to Jack, when Rocky is in the background just behind Louis at 1:16 to 1:20 of this video - This content is protected
Jack and Max sure did look alike. The closest resemblance to that is in some pics of Elijah Tillery and Muhammad Ali.
Dempsey had plastic surgery after his career was over. He looked a bit different after his career was over.
Gene Tunney even remarked on it. Something typical to the effect of “He looks like Dempsey but he’s not anywhere as good” - Dempsey once even got let into an arena (in a rush) because they thought it was Schemling late for the fight.
I know I essentially said that in my first post. I knew that most everyone would know the decade difference would mean Dempsey was the Senior, given when their careers were-& few if any would not be aware at least roughly when Dempsey started, became champion & retired.
So do you think this made him make more or less like Schmelling? Perhaps more, given how similar they appeared @1933.
