But not Stieglitz:huh I thought it was the other way around. Katsidis could barely stand up on his own, while Stieglitz was able continue the fight and look the fresher of the 2. I like Max but he was way off...maybe he had no choice since he hyped Kat so much, before and during the bout.:deal
Max is an idiot..why leave Casamayor hanging like that? only because he was on Katsidis' nuts? which by the way is a warrior...but a warrior can be beat by an old fox like Casamayor.
When you are all caught up in the excitement of the moment you dont want it to come to a sudden end with a ref's stoppage. It's only natural to initially feel that way.The fighters safety is obviously more important than the fan excitement factor. I have to err in favor of an early and safe stoppage and this appeared to be a good call on the ref's part.
Katsidis' boxing IQ is zero. Why the **** did he start loading on his shots like that? He kept his hands up from round 4 on, applied smart pressure... and then round 10 he goes nuts for no reason, tries to take Casamayor's head off? At least Hatton's uncalculated aggressiveness vs. Mayweather was due to him being frustrated, to his inability to land anything. But Katsidis was doing the right thing, why reverting to stupid brawling at the beginning of round 10?
the fight should have been stopped after the knockdown. he was out on his feet. he was coming forward, but it was off pure instinct.
Man, some of you guys hear what you want to hear. One, Kellerman was hyping Katsidis. At the same time, he was calling Casamayor a GREAT fighter that was getting up in years, and based on his last performance, you have to wonder what he has left. He then elaborated to say that if Casamayor was simply unmotivated last fight, but motivated for this one, it would be a great fight. He also said that the phrase "Great fighter" is tossed around too much, but fit with the Casamayor who is truly "a great fighter". He called Katsidis a good young fighter, who doesn't seem to have the tools to be great, but every once in a while, those guys become great anyways because of their warrior mentality. Two, he said if he were the ref that he would have let the fight go just a bit longer. However, he immediately then stated that he may be wrong in that assessment, and that the stoppage could certainly have been a good one. He said he couldn't disagree with the stoppage, but if he was the ref, he may have given Katsidis just a bit more time. Damn, do you guys just hear the parts that you want then ignore everything else so you can have something to bash the guy about?
