LT Yes Rosenbloom was green in 1925 when Grep whipped him but Harry Greb in 1925 was half the fighter he was in his prime who knowing his decline retired a year later and died soon after...Many years later while a boy I heard the famous announcer Sam Taub on his radio program
interviewing Rosenbloom. Taub asked Maxie "who was the greatest fighter you fought "? His quick answer, "HARRY GREB"...
Any LH that could beat the truly great Lightheavyweight John Henry Lewis
THREE times, must have been great...

I'll take age and experience over being green any day of the week.

Rosenbloom was at a greater disadvantage. He was 18 years old and had never faced even so much as a lower tier contender much less a champion level fighter.

By fighting Greb he was facing a sitting pound for pound all time great champion who had just fought one of his greatest fights.

Cleveland Times July 17 1925 Dan Taylor

Greb did practicably no fighting at all in the first round and because Rosenbloom landed a couplla stiff rights and lefts to Harrys chin we gave the period to Maxie.
But that was the last he won.
Greb really didn't get under way until late in the third round and after shaking Rosenbloom up with a viscous left to the stomach tore into him and battered him all over the ring.
The forth was a rather tame affair with Greb landing the only blows of the period then after referee Johnny McGuire warned them to begin fighting in the fifth Greb staggered Rosenbloom with a right uppercut and battered Maxie the rest of the round punching him at will. Greb started fast in the sixth again and after staggering his foe with an overhand right backed him into a neutral corner with a viscous left uppercut to the stomach then shot over another hard right to the point of the chin and Rosenbloom dropped. He remained down for the count of seven and Greb swarmed all over him as he arose but Maxie managed to weather the storm without going down again. From that period until the end Rosenbollm never had a chance and Greb punished him severely in the remaining rounds.

This ringside account from the Cleveland Times leaves no doubt whatsoever.
How history has ever portrayed Rosenbloom as the victor is a good lesson for us all!

    Well done, sir!

Maxie learned that it usually took Greb 5 or 6 rounds just to get warmed up! Ask Mickey Walker, Kid Norfolk and many others....

Especially when partying his ass off!
I have Rosenbloom quotes on this fight mentioning "
Greb pulled me into a clinch early in the match. He snarled at me "Mind yer manners kid and I'll go easy on ya"
Greb looked pretty seedy and I could smell liquor on his breath so i pored on the speed. Biggest mistake of my life and im glad i survived 10 rounds with that monster!!
