I skipped through the rounds earlier this week and heard Bradley's commentary: ' he's running on fumes' and that was round 7/8 I believe. I was surprised to find out this fight even went past the 11th. Terrible when all 3 parties who could have stopped it earlier missed their assignment (ref, commission doctor and his corner).
this is shocking. I can't believe it. RIP to MAX and his family. every time something like this happens, I can't help but think of all the people who say boxing is staged, rigged, or someone took a dive.... that makes me so mad when people say that... I show them these tragic events.
low blood pressure is good. it's high blood pressure that is bad and can cause heart attack and stroke. most athletes have really low pulses and blood pressure.
I've been searching for the words all day to put this into perspective, but I still can't find them. I was a fan of Dadashev and Matias both, quite a while before Friday's match I had high hopes for both of them, now one life is lost, and another one is changed irrevocably. This is horrible, and hate seeing what I saw this past Friday, I wish I'd have never witnessed the aftermath, it still haunts me days later and like with Simakov, it will for years to come. I knew what I was witnessing wasn't going to have an outcome that would be good for anyone. This is just awful and I hate it. God bless his wife and child. Rest in Peace Maxim.
Very sad news. I'm no doctor so I won't pretend to be one on here. When should it have been stopped? Why wasn't it stopped earlier? Did Dadashev look unhealthy at the weigh in? Did he react to punches during the fight badly? I don't have the answers to these questions. My input here is this, having a highly trained man take his closed fist and ram it into your skull as hard as possible many times over cannot be healthy and may be life threatening. Of course, that is obvious. Which is precisely the point. The very nature of the sport is life threatening.
RIP Dadashev you were a true warrior. I'm not saying it was the cause in this situation but I think we need to start looking at some of the dangerous weight cutting practices that so many fighters are going thru in boxing and other combat sports,if something isn't done soon we will have more tragedies

how is the weight cutting practicies the organizations fault? it's completely the fighters decision what weight class they fight in. They want the biggest possible height and reach advantage, and try to get into the lowest possible weight class. it's a completely voluntary decision. What changes would u make? WOuld you start putting height requirements/limits on top of weight class? Well that would totally throw things off. Andy Ruiz (HW) could be a middleweight at 6'2", and Sebastian Fundora, who is 6'6" is a welterweight, could be a HW.... it's all up to the fighters discretion really. Look at Callum Smith too I don't think there was anything that could be done to prevent this... I can name dozens of SLUGFESTS where both boxers heads swelled up like melons, both eyes shut, and they recovered fine, and went to fight on.... brain bleeding/swelling happens after the fight, so it's hard to tell.
WTF?? I didn't blame the organisations i was wanting to highlight an issue and I didn't go into the detail since i felt there was other threads to go into it more. I basically agree with everything you are saying and feel there is no need for the dramatic weight cutting other then trying to gain an advantage. A basic possible solution would be having fighters weigh in a couple of weeks out and have them have to meet a certain limit as well as the normal pre fight weigh ins to minimize the more dangerous cuts.
Seen so many one sided fights where one fighter is getting the crap beat out of him with little return fire, and they let it go on round after round. McGirt asking Maxim to let him stop the fight makes my stomach churn. Trainers should do their ****ing jobs and stop fights when they know their fighter has crossed that line and has taken to many punches to the head. The fans are no better when they criticize fighters for not coming out for the next round when they know they've had enough. ACOUNTABILITY!!! Who's accountable for this death????????
