Valera more active this round. Unfortunately, the activity was all backing away for Vlasov. A point also taken away from Valera for a low blow.

 

Barring any crazy resurgence from Mangu, or another knockdown or point deduction, this is heading toward a fourteen point spread, in a ten-rounder. I can't remember the last time we had a 100-86 fight. Usually before it reaches that point you'd get a stoppage or a DQ.

Credit to Valera for not buckling or quitting on his stool I guess, but can't give him credit for much else today.

 

I like what they've been doing with the "half a minute to go in the round" warning bell ringing as well as the clap for ten seconds.

Valera spent the whole round running away or lunging in for a clinch. A very ugly look.

I agree. Took me a round or two to figure it out but I do like it.

 

Close fight that could go either way.

 

The idea behind ten seconds is "hurry up and make something happen" but that is a really short amount of time for some fighters to respond. In the heat of battle it can take you a few seconds to even process that you heard it.

 

I think I need to learn Russian.

 

I expected a comfortable Vlasov win but Valera looked like there was something wrong with him, a lot of off beat falling.
