May 4 Saul Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia May 6 Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery May 12 Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. George Kambosos May 18 Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk May 25 Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall 2 And then in June 1st, we get the the most intriguing fight of the year, Bivol vs Beterbiev.
As much as I’m looking forward to May I have to say that Im pretty stunned how little attention Fury vs Usyk has been getting. We're 3 weeks left for Fury vs Usyk and there has been barely any promotion or hype with this fight, especially for a HW fight that's supposed to be significant.
I think everyone is just hoping the fight happens, including the promoters. They already spent enough money promoting the fight the first time and the cut happened. They don't want to waste anymore money. The fans know when it's happening and we'll all be tuning in. We're all holding our breathes and pray that Tyson Fury doesn't **** the bed again.
I watched the DAZN card from Fresno on Saturday and saw the first promo for that fight. It was horrible. This is such a massive fight and not a peep about it stateside.
The HW & LHW fights are not going to do any business in the United States. Everyone knows that and has budgeted accordingly, I'm sure. Of everyone on the OP's list, Canelo is the only American gate attraction.
I imagine fans and promoters alike are quite fatigued with a fight thats been on and off multiple times. Personally I still fear this fight will be cancelled somehow despite this being the fight I am most looking forward to this year and even last.
we have been on that promotional tour for years. they can't market it enough because the powers that be have slammed it constantly they can't justify another promotinal campaign so soon. anyways it's in the ether.
I think with Fury already pulling out of it a few times, looking like **** vs Ngannou and the belief that it will be a chess match has all signicantly reduced the hype.
I thought 2023 was a solid year, this is shaping up to be even better. Hell the fights we have had so far have been pretty good
