Well that would be a very odd time for Pacman to fight (Jan/Feb) and might not give him enough time to recover and than start training for a May fight with FLoyd.

I'd imagine the "tune up" fight would have to happen by Dec/Jan the latest.

nah... no need for a tune up fight. Let pac rest for a year and fully rehabilitate his shoulder then fight Floyd...

It's a send off money for both fighters. I think they deserve it.....

Agreed. The rematch will generate much more interest if he can impressively beat a Lucas or Brook.

Let's face it, the reason why their fight generated so much interest is because Pac looked good heading into the fight. Rios, Algieri and Bradley. You always want a fighter to win and look good heading into a big fight, not off a loss or injury.

    What's a good enough win?

    Bradley III? Marquez V? Thurman?

Manny fights Khan, Floyd fights Canelo again, rematch in 2016.
    Not impressive enough?

Something tells me he will. Even if Floyd retires I think he'll come out of it for a Pac rematch. It's another HUGE payday and he won't have to take much punishment to get it (judging from the first fight). There's a reason he sent that text to Stephen A. Smith.

I agree with OP though, Pac needs an impressive win first to build up the rematch. Would like to see him in there with Maidana.

Didn't Arum say that Pacquiao will fight in December?. If he doesn't recover soon and immediately fights Mayweather coming off an injury and a year lay-off, it won't be interesting at all and might not happen. Mayweather isn't staying past mid-2016.

Meh, they're both too old and too long in the tooth to build towards a natural rematch again.

I mean, look at Alvarez, even if he rematched Floyd now we'd wonder what the point was despite him having some success post Floyd.

May-Pac 2 doesn't get done, in my view, Floyd will fight Amir Khan and retire. The "Too much money involved not to take it" no longer really applies when even if he only turns the $200m he got from this fight into $100m after tax and expenses, he just doubled his bank balance in one fight after a long career, and has a pretty viable boxing franchise being managed by Al Haymon and TMT.

He'll leave boxing, and maybe come back within a couple of years as an ****yst/promoter.

Maybe it's just me but I just don't care about a rematch, even if pac gets a good win next. I'm done with these two and there are only one or two guys I'd pay to watch either fight at this point, im done and ready to move on to the next era

That's easily done. He can fill out a questionnaire.

A tune up is a must. Pacquiao is on the verge of retirement. But no need for a rematch. It would be a steep downhill after that injury.
