May-Pac 3rd negotiations in jeopardy. Roach" movement/counter punching weakens Pac"

Manny Pacquiao is apparently refusing to enter the ring to fight with Floyd Mayweather and being supported by his trainer, Freddie Roach.

"Flat footed & come forward fighters, I'll fight them day of the week. But slick black fighters with movement, timing and counter punching, I will not let my fighter do," Roach said during a telephone call from his Wild Card Boxing Club on Tuesday.

"And they can't guarantee me that that won't happen the day of a fight after they saw what happened in Pac-JMM III. So it's my choice. So if you want to blame somebody, blame me."

"Manny does not like having to face movement and counter punching on fight night. Mayweather knows Manny's leg cramps when having to deal with movement and counter punching. Does footwork and counter punching weaken you? If it's in his head mentally that he can't land his left straight or right hook easily, then yes, it does. And with Manny Pacquiao, it's in his head that he feels weak and leg cramps if he has to face that, and there's no way that I'm going to let him go into the ring with that on his mind," said Roach.

"I've done my homework, I've talked to experts," Roach added, "flat footed come forward fighters are whats best for Manny. Especially the ones we can get to cut some extra weight. Those type of styles should be good enough. So, we will fight all of the flat footed come forward fighters in the world, no problem. I'll spar with a slick counter puncher 30 days before the fight or after the fight in the dressing room we can spar, but not on the night of the fight

"I never thought that Floyd wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao, and now, he wants to cancel a fight because we won't allow him to fight us like Marquez did. Floyd Mayweather is not the commission, and we should allow the local commission to decide which style he is allowed to employ. They're probably saying something along the lines that Floyd Mayweather is trying to get out of the fight," said Ellerbe. "Well, if he feels that this is Floyd's way trying to get out of the fight, then all Manny Pacquiao has to do is agree to fight"

"Hopefully, this is some type of misunderstanding and Manny can learn how to cut off the ring to effectively deal with counter punchers. Because, surely, I can't imagine him refusing to do this and walking away from the biggest fight in the history of boxing."

"You know what? I don't even know what cutting off the ring is," said Pacquiao. "I've never done that. Maybe all of them -- they're using that ability, and not me."
