maybe I was harsh on Clottey calling him a gatekeeper

I stand by all the other comments re him not really going for it but calling him a gatekeeper was probably a bit harsh.

Im struggling to find the term to describe where I see him, hes better than just a "contender" but short of champion status, and isnt the most fan friendly he is the sort of fighter a world champion needs to be able to beat hence the gatekeeper reference.

Mosely, FMJ, Cotto, Pac, and Berto all beat him handily for me, Cotto and Pac already have, so he aint quite elite class, BUT he is a ****ing solid pro, and is a great test for any aspiring world champ to get past.

He is a gatekeeper, for Top Rank fighters

He is a live fight for anyone not 'controlled' by Uncle Bob

Former 'World' champion who lost to 2 top 10 p4p fighters in his previous fights, with one of them being controversial and the other against the p4p number 1 right now. Has beat the likes of Judah and Corrales and has been a top 10 Welterweight for the last 3-4 years.

I must not understand what a 'gatekeeper' is then? :think

I think Clottey is a difficult fighter to rate.

Given that he basically gave away (let's be honest) the Cotto fight, and was beaten into his shell on Saturday...... contrast that with forcing Zab to quit and a few other decent wins.....

A solid, top 10 147lb fighter obviously, one that will probably look at himself in the mirror one day and wish he'd have put the pedal to the metal against Cotto - would have looked great on his record that.
