What exactly is it that promoter does? Promotes the fight works out costs such as fighters fees and venue and then aims to overturn a higher profit for himself? Anyone know how you could become a promoter and what you would need e.g money, contacts etc?
I will play part as promoter here: I want to put on a fight. I get the fighters I get the venue Say I contact Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather I negotiatie how much it would cost to have them both fight eachother. I then find the venue, say MGM. I find out how much I can make from sponsors and and site fee (MGM pays me to have the fight there) I then talk and negotiate with HBO. I add up all the money from Site fee, advertising (sponsors), HBO and ticket sales and hopefully have enough to cover the fighters purses and pay all other incidental expenses and still make a little profit for myself.
I would love to be a promoter, wish I had the balls to actually do it. It's probably also highly competitive and hard to break into
I would love to be one. Going round the amatuer clubs butterin up all the talent. Gaining profit to put on a bigger show to earn even more profit to put on even bigger shows. Eventually having ties with goldeboy. Hattons plans to eventually be the feeder to goldenboy of european fighters. I mean look at Prizefighter anyone could have thought of that and Barry Hearns is making shitloads
