    It's just a matter of choice. Nate Campbell said he's seeing spots after the headbutt with Bradley. Fight was stopped, Campbell criticized for quitting. Robert Guerrero said he can't see clearly after the headbutt with Yordan. Fight got stopped and Guerrero criticized for quitting.

    It's the boxer's own choice and be responsible for the option they have chosen. No more room for complaints after they decided what option to take.

    I think Sosa didn't take more time to recuperate because he didn't know what planet he was on. That butt was the hardest hit in the fight, and Sosa's legs were gone after it.

    I don't think Sosa was fully aware of what was happening, and the ref ****ed up by not advising him he had time to recuperate and didn't have to continue. The fighter doesn't have to know the rules, the ref does. Maybe Sosa just went along with the ref's instructions figuring he was correctly doing his job, which he wasn't.

    I would advise guys agaisnt fighting Mayol, the man is a human headbutt, just like Tim Bradley and Holyfield. When a guy is repeatedly involved in "accidental" headbutts and frequently lunges into his punches head first, it becomes a weapon and a danger to the opponent. Mayol is dirty just as is Bradley and Holyfield.

    accidental. mayol should give sosa a rematch to ba fair to him. this time in manila so i can watch it live. :lol:

    Can someone explain what Mayol is attempting to do? his punch goes NOWHERE NEAR Sosa and hits nothing with no force.

    Are you arguing his intent was to throw that weak, directionless punch? And why is his head so far ahead of his arm? there is absolutely nothing that could have come out of that scenario except a headbutt to the face, or a headbutt to the chest. When you're head is in front of your arms, you're not throwing a punch.

    The same thing happened in Holt-Torres 2. Both were equally dirty. The difference is that Mayol is a repeat offender.

    Exactly.

    Plus Mayol was lower down and quite rightly had his chin tucked into his chest unlike Sosa so Sosa came of worse.

    And what "distant target" was Mayol throwing at that demanded his head extend further than his arm? Look at Mayol's arm throughout that sequence. What was he punching at exactly?

    The momentum of your head and body is towards the left when throwing a right hook. He was about to throw a right hook but Sosa suddenly leaned forward. Thus, the head-on collision. It's not rocket science. It was accidental, live with it.

    They both come into each other. You are acting like Sosa was stationary and Mayol ran into him.

    Mayol saw Sosa at a distance from him so Mayol had his chin tucked in, bent down low and unleashed a wide winging hook. When you do this quite often your head is ahead of your fist as you bring your arm back to throw the winging hook.

    Unfortunately for Sosa, as Mayols wide winging hook was thrown Sosa moved forward. If Sosa had stood still he would have got punched in the face by Mayols fist. However, because Sosa moved forward he got butted instead.

    Verdict...accidental headbut.

    basically, mayol was lunching a punch when sosa tried to duck or head on to mayols left side thus putting his left face directly into mayol's head. they are both moving so it was purely accidental. and using the calderon fight is not a proof that mayol does it on purpose. if you have really watched it, it was the style of calderon being a southpaw and mayol being orthodox that contributed to both headbutts. mayol is a clean fighter, you can check his history since his eagle-kyowa fight.

    Wow, Mayol really turned his head into that headbutt. That's textbook on how to throw a proper headbutt while turning into it.
