People are constantly siting SSM's fight with Mayorga as reason to believe he's not still a great fighter but the fact is this, Mayorga was a former 2 division champion who knocked-out then beat the man who gave SSM his first and second defeats and he also out weighed SSM on fight night and SSM still knocked him out. While FMJ on the other hand beats a man 2 divisions smaller and doesn't even get the knock-out. Don't get me wrong Marquez will def go down as the far better fighter of the two, givin' the circumstances SSM had the tougher fight and won more impressively.
Are you kidding me?????? Felix Trinidad and Oscar DLH looked like complete elite assassins in disecting and easily destroying Ricardo Mayorga.......both Trinidad and DLH toyed with a better version of Mayorga that Shane fought.........yet, Shane looked like complete utter **** going life and death with a limited Mayorga. How Shane managed to look awkward and slow vs the limited Mayorga when Trinidad and DLH looked spectacular, I just cant get out of my mind.:? You should be told that KO's dont =being impressive, there was little that was impressive about Mosley's KO over Mayorga...... ......and although Mayweather had every physical advantage vs JMM, he did what he was supposed to have done against an older fighter jumping up two weight divsions. Mayweather not having gotten the KO, does'nt take away that he looked sharp and impressive against still a very highly skilled Marquez.

It's do to their styles. DLH has the more technical style and fought Mayorga perfectly. Tito exchanged more and had a longer bout with a bigger give and take. Mosley tried to outblast Mayorga and almost got blasted himself. Mosley went in against Mayorga completely underestimating him, thinking if Tito and DLH did it so could he. What he learned was that Mayorga is not a pushover.
That's hilarious, how can someone defend Floyd not knocking out a career featherweight fighting at '47 for the very first time? Andre Berto would have brutalized the **** out of Marquez' ass, no questions asked. Marquez is a very good fighter, maybe in the future he may even be considered among the best featherweights, but he most probably topped out at 135, that's just the way it is. Ooh, but there's one guy who did excellent climbing up to welterweight. This same guy engaged in close contests with Marquez himself. But wait, if this guy was successful and Marquez was not, but they fought two close contests, if I like Marquez maybe I can diminish this guy's accomplishments and make Marquez look better? :rofl Ha ha what a loser
I dont buy it......I reviewed the Mosley-Mayorga fight a few times and noticed that Mayorga was'nt just walking in blasting like Margarito tried to do...... Mayorga was feinting his shots and not just letting his shots go everytime he walked in. He was giving Mosley different looks and coming in at dfferent angles.....and Mosley could'nt find the distance or the punch repertoire to time Mayorga. The bottom line is that the limited Mayorga if not outworking, was outhinking Mosley in the ring. Where was the speed, timing and technical ability that most felt Mosley had over Mayorga?????? Where was the jab by Mosley? Mosley was relugated to looking like a blind man trying to find Mayorga with the pawing jab. Mosley was nullified by the limited Mayorga. If Mayorga could make Mosley look like a rank amatuer, I shudder to think how Mosley will look vs a real skilled fighter, likely the best in the game and a defensive Maestro right now in Mayweather Jr.
Mosley would have sent Marquez on a stretcher, Floyd couldn't even send the career featherweight down for a second time :rofl Mosley was dealing with a fighter in Mayorga who had the kind of power to make him hesitate. Floyd dealt with the power of a featherweight.
