mayorga had an iron chin

He was only classless once wwith Spinks.

He always apologized after the fight for his pre fight antics.I think it's pretty clear that he was doing it to sell the fights.
After the Vargas fight he went on his knees in the post fight presser.

 

He was no joke, i think he just lacked discipline and was reckless,otherwise he was a force to be reckoned with no doubt.

 

Its not the chin. When you get hit you go down because your brain gets rocked against the cranial walls. MAyorga has no brain, that why he is so hard to put down:yep:yep:yep

 

Mayorga did, but I think it was weakened by letting Trinidad tee of on him twice in a row in their fight. Mayorga was fairing well up until that point. That second free shot staggered him.

 

Well he should be back in action pretty soon, not in boxing but in MMA I guess he would bring some excitement there. Don't know if the audience would understand anything he says

 

He toke bombs but those cigarettes never helped him especially for later rounds. How was the fight between him and Spinks? Is it enjoyable?

 

hell yeah he did. He gave trinidad free shots, Trinidad looked at him for a second like "are you serious" he was thinking it had to be a trick or something cause no one would ever just give him their chin like that. Took a few of them and finally got a bit wobbled. Took an ass beating for 8 rounds and it was a body shot that actually stopped him.


Some people think that you cant have an iron chin if youve been knocked out but I dont believe that. Look at duran - hearns, he still got up after some nasty shots and no one else ever did that to him even when he was over 40. Mayorga had a great chin, he took a beating before he was ever stopped. He didnt get knocked out because of a bad chin but because of basically no defense.

 

And...those shots add up I mean DLH, Mosley, and Trinidad aren't feather fisted by any means.

 

His fight with Mosley was as good as I'd seen him in years. He came in serious and sober and he was pretty good. People give Mosley flack for not trouncing him in round one or outclassing him completely but I instead take nothing away from Mosley and credit Mayorga (who I never liked) with putting it together for a change.

mayorga was a natural welter / junior middle , so taking the punches of guys like dlh and mosely who were 129 and 135 pounds when they turned pro isnt such a great feat...trinidad was more his natural weight and caved his face in..... but yes, he took some good punches...but i wouldnt say his chin was granite, but its better than average....

 

If you have it on tape, watch the second fight again with the sound off. Forrest won that fight. Worst nuthugging I've ever heard.

 

Mayorga said Oscar hit harder than tito after facing each man. I wonder where Mosley fits into that after they fought. I'd say 3rd

 

he didn't really take dlh's punches that well. i mean hoya put him on his ass with a single left hook in the 1st round, and pretty much kicked the **** out of him the rest of the fight.
