Mayorga has been doing nothing but talking like a ***** for the past few year and getting treated by one in the ring. I though that fool would be getting tired of getting beatdowns and having to hug and apologise to his opponents afterwards.

 

Mayorga has indeed gotten Cotto to unconventionally show his emotional side. Whether or not it proves to be a detriment to Cotto's usual performance is anyone's guess.

 

I think guys like Cotto- really reserved gentleman types-automatically detest people like Mayorga. His reactions to the trash-talking persona seem like they are sighs of professional disgust and annoyance. I would be worried if Cotto was saying anything inflammatory or untrue, like Mayorga's ridicule of Cotto's hands or calling him a woman, then I'd be worried; but all he's done is call him a Nicaraguan clown who doesn't back it up when it counts most. Of course he's going to push back when Mayorga gets physical, but that's a normal sign of defense. IMO, I don't see Cotto being overly emotional in response to Mayorga's antics; just annoyed by his character and appropriately defensive when he tries to bully him.

Not to mention he can actually understand him in Spanish. It's a whole different ball game listening to Mayorga when you can hear it straight from his mouth.
