Looked to me like he took a flush left hook and went down and then quit.

    The hand injury didn't occur.

unless he had money on cotto in the 12th that would be pointless

Yeah he quit, honest. You take hard punches from Cotto for 11 rounds and then quit with 1 to go. Ricardo isn't the type, a foul individual he may but he wouldn't quit unless he was truly hurt.

He quite clearly injured his hand.

Why would he quit? He was never even hurt in the fight at any point, and as hard as that left in the 12th was, it wasn't even close to taking him to brink of stoppage.

Have you people even seen Ricardo Mayorga before?

He didn't hurt his hand in any of the replays of the punches preceeding the knockdown.

The left hook hurt him and he went down.

He's hit the point were he's just had enough, remember he's been the well more times than most... Cotto has this effect on many many fighters ;)

The commentary mentioned that his left hand conected with Cotto's left mid punch and thats how his hand was injured.

Did you hear and see his reaction to his glove being pulled off after the fight? He was defo in pain.

I think that was an act by Mayorga. The left hook was a peach and sent the sweat spraying. At no point in the preceeding punches does his hand land on Cotto. I think he was exhaused and hurt by the left hook.

Mayorga has been to the well many times indeed. The left hook he took there was reminiscent of the left hook that dropped McKenzie!

Did you not see his glove being taken off? He was in absolute agony.

And since when did Mayorga ever feign injury? He was not hurt at any previous point in the fight. The left hook didn't even have him hurt badly. So why would he quit if he was not hurt and still had a live chance in the fight?

He was blatantly injured. How you people cannot see that is beyond me.

    agree with this

that shot rocked him to his boots & he knew it, ive checked those replays and there is no evidence of him injuring his hand.

Why is there always a conspiracy surrounding things in Boxing for some people? The guy smashed his hand up and stopped the fight. No quitting involved and no shame in the loss.

    I wish.. ;)

Mayorga is a lunatic and many other things but quitter he is not.. I've seen the guy take a one sided pasting off Trinidad and De La Hoya and still keep coming back for more. Just look at the left hooks he took of Tito and tell me he's a quitter.. All that happened is that enough is enough and he couldn't possibly continue, add to that you've got a serious powerful fighter in front of you that's walking you down then it's a must stop scenario no doubt IMO..

    Exactly.

Seriously, why does every have to have a deeper meaning with you people? If Mayorga didn't injure his hand, why was he in agony when taking his glove off after the fight?

Are you all ******ed or something?

Agree with the first part. Mayorga definetely quit because of injury though.
