I think mayorga IS very good at his best, and at his peak, at 147.... You dont have a close fight with spinks, two wins over forrest, an epic battle with mosley and tito and be a two weight champion if your NOT very good. Hes just very crude and lacks discipline above 147 so he was less then his best in many fights. But thats his own fault.

Now, with that said ... prime for Prime against Cottoe Mayorga doesnt stop and as Cottoe gets on his bicycle and begins to slow down Mayorga bombs him out after breaking him down around the 5th or so.

 

Maybe, maybe not. Cotto doesn't respond well to pressure fighters. Mayorga has the iron chin to take Cotto's shots. I think Mayorga could walk him down and stop Cotto late.

Mayorga in his prime was a true and huge 147 vs Cotto who was at that time a really natural 140 lbs

If Ricardo Torress can hurt and wing wild punches on Cotto and hurt his ass, imagine what a confident/strongchin/ultimate attack power puncher in Mayorga will do to Cotto

yeah mayorga is just acting pathetically. he knows he would get demolished yet assumes his 8th grade shenanigans will get him a big fight.

 

I think it'd be an interesting fight nonetheless. Mayorga would be great in testing Miguel's coolness. I'm not sure if Cotto is really ready for the real 154lber monsters like Angulo, Kirkland, and Dzinziruk so why not a fight vs Mayorga? El Matador supposedly isn't that dangerous anymore as many here are stating, but he is a name either way you look at it. I still think it's a dangerous fight for Cotto and would steer away from this one. Cotto did state he is looking for the big fights for his last fights. I'm sure Mayorga might be looking for the same in the twilight of his career. I'd rather watch Cotto-Margarito or one that should of happened years ago was Mayorga-Margarito.
