Cotto wide UD. Cotto has the perfect style to control Mayorga.

Cotto plays with him then knocks him the f*ck out via a left hook.

This would be the best part of the fight. Cotto is ridiculously introverted. What would Mayorga's verbal game get out of Cotto?

It would just mean, the worse the insults the more chance Miguel would prolong the punishment. Cotto is a serious dude, i've seen him step away from attacks in his prime to punish guys.

Trinidad and Hoya beat the hell out of this man with shear punching power and not much finesse.

Cotto has a very stiff composite punching style. Unbelievable jab that will thumb you in your place, and compact hooks to the body and head. Mayorga's haymakers won't really find its mark because he will get beat to the punch. Mayorga found his way in on Forrest because Forrest could not get leverage on his long punches. Cotto is more compact than Mayorga, and this is how Cotto finds the mechanical advantage over Mayorga's absurd style.

It would be a methodical schooling. Believe me when I say this, Cotto's style would wreck Mayorga. Styles make fights. Mosley couldn't figure Mayorga out because he has a very weak pawing jab, and so he couldn't set Mayorga up (the fight was ridiculously competitive despite the KO). This would not be the case with Cotto.

Every time Mayorga walked in on Tito he ate a stiff jab, THEN got the power shots. Cotto shoots out his jab much more naturally than Trinidads. And he is also much more natural at following up with several accurate punches. Hes not as hard a hitter obviously, but the accuracy will keep Mayorga in check.

Cotto's gentleman like composure doesn't deserve the verbal heckling. Sure it's fun when Mayorga does it to most fighters, but I feel like Cotto would just not play. Jab and slip to get close, punish the body, knock him out with a left hook to the head fairly early.

I think mayorga IS very good at his best, and at his peak, at 147.... You dont have a close fight with spinks, two wins over forrest, an epic battle with mosley and tito and be a two weight champion if your NOT very good. Hes just very crude and lacks discipline above 147 so he was less then his best in many fights. But thats his own fault.

Now, with that said ... prime for Prime against Cottoe Mayorga doesnt stop and as Cottoe gets on his bicycle and begins to slow down Mayorga bombs him out after breaking him down around the 5th or so.
