Probably Mayorga. Beat Six Heads Lewis and Vernon Forest. Had an iron chin at 147. Maidana didn’t beat anyone of note at 147. Lost to Amir Kahn and Mayweather. It would have been an exciting fight though.
Why Mayorga ? Maidana could box once he hired Robert Garcia he became much more polished as a fighter, you can see Mayweather being bothered by his jabs... he feinted a jab to the body and landed a left hook on Broner. Mayorga was a true slugger that could not do those things....
Madiana wins a decision in a thrilling battle. Better jab, better body puncher, better combinations. Better timing. Arguably better chin.
I dissagree with Maidana having the better chin. Yes Mayorga has more knock out losses but look at the guys who knocked him out. I'll bet money that Trinidad, De la Hoya, Mosley and Cotto knock out Maidana as well. I'll give him a shot against Cotto but i can see Cotto getting back up to outbox and then stop Maidana. Maidana was hurt/dropped by far lesser punchers than who stopped Mayorga. Maidana was hurt/dropped by Khan, little Erick Morales, Josito Lopez, Victor Ortiz and Omar leon.
Maidana had excellent recovery and didn't stay hurt for more than about 20 seconds. Sometimes he'd even get into a slug fest right after being hurt or dropped. So it kind of cancels out. Even if you think Mayorga can take a single shot better than Maidana, Maidana has better endurance and can stay in the fight longer. Mayorga also has worse defense.
Mayorga beat bigger and better fighters than Maidana ever did. I am leaning towards Mayorga by hard fought decision.
