Even though he got knocked out, he did pretty well against someone like Shane Mosley. I was more impressed with Mayorga than Mosley tonite, because Shane could have ended this sooner.
I was one of the few who thought Mayorga would win this fight. I just knew that Mosley was the type of boxer who would have to prove a point by slugging it out with a slugger. Mayorga was beating Mosley and working towards a UD that I thought was certain. I knew Mosley needed a ko to win but did not think he was gonna get it that late in the fight. Incredible. :good
saying mosley won in the last minute was an understatement. won by badass ****ing knockout at 2:59 of the 12th round. when he was being pushed around by a stronger unhurtable man the whole time priceless
Shane gave away enough rounds for any objective fan to have had Ricardo ahead. It's not that Mayorga did anything spectacular, it's about what Mosley didn't do...and that's win rounds convincingly in the beginning and parts of the middle of the fight.
Anyone who wants to take away from Mayorga's game and gutsy performance by pointing out how shot Shane is needs to bear in mind that he's no spring chicken himself and both have taken their licks over the years.
Mayorga definitely shocked me too, he was doing very good in there and was actually competitive. Who expected him to be competitive?, don't think many did. In the end, Mosley finished it like he was supposed to ROUNDS earlier but still got what many expected. :yep :happy
Only reason Mayorga won a few rounds is because Mosley like alot of times allowed himself to fight another guys fight. Mayorga kept rabbit punching and throwing on the break he only landed like what 12 percent of his punches ? Mayorgas holding and dirty tactics got him a couple rounds. But really whenever Shane stepped it up especially in the 12th like he always has he showed how much better he is. If there had been a decent ref this fight was over alot sooner.
