You know what they say about opinions. Mayweather fought Alvarez at a division about four above where he started and about 15 years after he turned pro. If Pac had beat Alvarez under the same circumstances you would be claiming the win of the century.
Not at all. That's why no one gives Torrecampo and Singsurat any real credit for KOing Pac. Had Clenelo stayed at 160 and finished his career there, it would help Floyd's case. But the fact that he can fight at 175 shits all over Floyd's victory.
Canelo could have had 100 fights against Mexican road sweepers and he'd still be relatively green at that level. A fighter with 7 world title fights at 23 years old and less than 8 years in pro boxing is green compared to a seasoned champion with 20 world title fights at 31 years old and more than 16 years in boxing. Canelo was a stone heavier than Mayweather, Qaqi would be almost three stone heavier than Mayweather, the two are not remotely comparable. When you're already cutting a lot of weight cutting an extra 2 lbs to 152 lbs (which was the lightest Canelo had been since he was 20 years old) can have a significant effect on stamina, focus, punch resistance, power and confidence. Mayweather knew this, which was why it was part of the contract; he wanted to hinder Canelo to the maximum degree so he'd be less of a threat, just as Canelo went on to do with many of his opponents. This should be obvious even to Mayweather fanboys.
lol You are coming out pretty hard to just have joined this board. Alvarez was the champ. No more needs to be said about him being “green”. Alvarez himself said that weighing in one pound lighter was no problem and in fact would be an asset as he would be quicker but I guess you know better than he does. I am no Mayweather fanboy but I am not a hater either so I feel that I am fairly objective. You may disagree but I can live with that. We all have our own opinions. Have a good day.
"Alvarez was the champ" So was Charles Martin. It's not even debatable that Canelo was green compared to Canelo 8 years and 13 world title fights later. "Alvarez himself said that weighing in one pound lighter was no problem" What's he supposed to say? "I'll be dead at the weight if I have to cut an extra 2 lbs, I won't have a chance." Canelo is profoundly delusional anyway, as well as supremely arrogant. He wouldn't be a reliable source even if he didn't have an incentive to lie.
Maybe green is the wrong term, but I must say the Canelo that Bivol beat would decapitate the version of Canelo that Mayweather beat. The current Canelo would brutalize the younger version.
Alvarez is heavier but I can’t say he is that much better. Alvarez looks good against certain types of boxers but his deficiencies show up against others. Slick boxers that have good footwork will always give him fits.
20 world title fights and 16 years in boxing is a long time and sounds a bit shopworn to me. All those fights and training camps will have surely had an effect on him by now. Sounds like you’ve made a good case for Canelo being past his best.
Mayweather’s schooling of Canelo was more impressive as it was even more comprehensive and Canelo was at his peak at 23 years old having had 7 world title fights and a professional for 8 years and Floyd was way past his best at 36 years old.
Am I missing something? What has this got to do with the Paul brothers who are fake celebrity boxers.
Clenelo won more rounds against Fluid than he did against Bivol. Clenelo wasn't on the juice before he fought Fluid while he had some cycles on the juice after the Fluid fight. Clenelo had less experience before fighting Fluid. Clenelo killed himself to make the weight back then. Clenelo was the B side when he fought Fluid and now was the A side when he fought Bivol. Clenelo improved overall since losing to Fluid so Bivol fought the better version of Clenelo. I could continue but it should be pretty clear that the Bivol schooling was MUCH MORE impressive overall. I know Fluid fangirls can't admit it as they have to suck Fluids small **** all the way but it is what it is...
