153.5 lbs for Trout (154 target)
152 lbs for Mayweather (152 target) 5 months later (lightest weight in 30 months, since he was 20)

It doesn't matter if he put 13 lbs back on, Geale and De La Hoya would have rehydrated a lot too. But the damage had been done.

"Also Canelo was more accomplished than either..."

He was a wide underdog against 152 Mayweather but a big favourite against 175 Bivol, which goes to show the perception of his vast improvement.

"why did he struggle with Lara and couldn't figure out bivol?"

Because they are quality fighters. He can improve a lot as a fighter but still be beaten by top fighters with awkward styles for him. The 152 lbs catchweight Canelo wouldn't have been favoured against 168 world champion movers BJS or Plant and he certainly wouldn't have knocked them out.

Canelo wasn't drained I have point out drained fighters to you. Oscar was drained against pac, Dawson was drained against ward. Both guys looked slow lethargic and couldn't take a punch. Canelo didn't display any of these characteristics he was fine on fight night.

Bivol was the underdog because most people never heard of him and he's not pbf the best fighter of the era. I said when the fight was made bivol would give him hell I just thought his lack of big fight experience would come back to haunt him but that didn't happen.

It was a significant factor in the outcome of the fight. A non-drained, full 154-lb Canelo, even back in 2013 at 23 years of age, was very capable of beating a 36 year old Mayweather. The draining of Canelo was instrumental to Mayweather's victory, and if you don't think it was a factor you're not being honest. Mayweather was P4P #1 but very vulnerable to Canelo's style and power. Canelo's ability to beat Mayweather was largely dependent on his "defense". The draining robbed him of his normal strategic preparation and his concentration on the night which would have allowed him to be more competitive with Floyd and win more rounds. 8 of the 12 rounds were close enough as it was, but with a better (154-lb) version of Canelo, he blocks and slips more of Mayweather's shots, and lands harder more eye-catching counters, winning more rounds and Mayweather would have met his match.

But that wasn't allowed to happen because Mayweather would only fight a weakened, weight drained Canelo. Him rehydration back to 165-lb only shows how hard it was to make 154 let alone 152. As a result of that catchweight, and the result, fans were quick to accuse Canelo of doing what Floyd did to him to other fighters, which is factually untrue, even with catchweights and a shady promoter like DLH. He never did anything that is even remotely similar to what Floyd did to him, giving himself that kind of advantage on the night. Fans are largely still in denial about this whole situation. And it's important to understand, that Canelo ended the cycle of fighters draining fighters to gain an advantage. Pac did to Cotto, and as a result of that, Cotto did it to Martinez/Geale, and Floyd did it to Canelo. Canelo eventually fired DLH, who was making Canelo be perceived of doing that king of thing to other fighters, even though they were hardly in the same ballpak as what Pac and Cotto did and what Floyd did to him while fans mostly gave Pac, Cotto and Floyd a pass.

Even worse, fans exaggerate how one-sided Floyd Canelo was in order to set the idea that Floyd would have always won even if there wasn't a catchweight. If we're honest, the entire scenario of Canelo vs Floyd has become like a psychological operation. Floyd pulling the wool over fans eyes making you believe that Floyd would have always beat Canelo, by making you believe it was a schooling or that it was dominant (it wasn't) then by pretending like the catchweight wasn't a big deal. What Floyd pulled, combined with the passes Pac and Cotto got from the fans for doing worse than DLH/Canelo ever did, then acting like Canelo ended up "being like Floyd" in trying to gain advantages, he's hoodwinked a lot of fans.

You mean that those fighters were more severely drained than Canelo, not that Canelo wasn't drained. Again: why did Mayweather want 152? Was it to drain himself?

The bookmakers knew Bivol very well and rated him highly as can see seen from the odds in all of his other fights. Bivol was also taller and maybe a bit heavier than Canelo, whilst Mayweather was lighter, yet the former was a big underdog and the latter was a big favourite. This suggests what is obvious: "P4P No.1" Canelo had improved massively since he fought Mayweather, was a lot more more skilled, experienced and powerful. If 23 year old catchweight Canelo had jumped up to SMW (let alone LHW) while weighing 165 on the night to fight an undefeated world champion mover coming off the Trout fight, he would have been a HUGE underdog, wider than he was against Mayweather.

Pbf was the much smaller man fighting in his 5th weight class he was also 36 and faded. Canelo called pbf out and accepted the weight if he couldn't do it turn the fight down. He didn't turn it down because it was just one pound less than his last fight. Canelo weighed in at 165 on fight night he was much bigger than pbf on fight night. He got outboxed his weight at the weigh in had nothing to do with that. Peolpe just want an excuse for his loss and an excuse to not give pbf any credit.

Regardless of anything bivol was much bigger than canelo not only that he had the skill level to beat and expose Canelo's flaws. I thought it was a risky fight going in and was high risk low reward. Canelo should've taken the offer with pbc for more money it was a 2 fight deal which included either charlo or Spence and Benavidez. I think canelo beats both Spence or charlo and probably beats Benavidez but even if he lost to David it wouldn't be as bad for him as losing to bivol because people actually know who Benavidez is and he's a draw. To most casuals they say canelo lost to a nobody and even on espn they made fun of it saying no one knew bivol despite the fact that real boxing fans knew about him for years.

Canelo did improve dramatically. The Canelo that Mayweather fought would lose every round and get viciously knocked out by Bivol.

We're going round in circles here. It's obvious why Mayweather wanted the catchweight. No amount of denial about that or Canelo's obvious improvement changes anything.

That's a myth. Canelo has not fought guys who could really expose him. If he really improved why didn't he have any answers against bivol? After all this so much improved canelo as people like you love to claim was walking through guys beating them up and outboxing them. No Canelo's feet have always been a weakness him also throwing power shots with nothing in between is another. Great fighters with high ring iqs realize this and make adjustments to it lesser fighters can't and are beaten up and fold it's that simple. Canelo has gotten stronger more arrogant which is a flaw and has developed bad habits him not being as focused on boxing is an example he's not as hungry as he once was because he made it to the top.

Why didn't he have answers against Bivol? Because Bivol was in his prime and the best fighter H2H he's ever fought. That's why. Bivol would cleanly outbox everybody on Canelo's resume. Canelo is a sick ****, trying to claim the ghost of Kovalev as a great win.

I've already answered you as well about being drained and canelo being green.

I said H2H, not P4P. Mayweather is the best fighter p4p that Canelo ever fought. Bivol is literally the best.

I mean unless you think Floyd can beat Dmitry??? Then, well, lol.

Not when the guy outweighs you by 10 pounds when the bell rings.

Asking a guy to lose A POUND more than he normally does for a weigh-in is just a psychological tactic. Nothing more. (Apparently, it works on fans, too.)

Claiming 23-year-old who entered the ring at 165 was somehow at a "physical disadvantage" over a 36-year-old who weighed 10 pounds less than him is laughable.

    Seriously, wake up.

No just stop. Look bivol is a good fighter but you're going overboard. First bivol is a much bigger man than canelo so that has to be brought into the equation. Do I think bivol beats canelo if they were the same size?? Yes! I do but it would be much closer.
