Why are all these people comparing what Leonard did against Duran like Floyd can do the same thing? Ray was bigger he was faster, he hit much harder probably the best combo puncher ever and he had great workrate even at more than a 154 pounds, he had a destructive body attack to, and he had tremendous courage those last 3 things I listed Floyd lacks all of them. Ok lets get this **** straight right now.......NO VERSION OF Floyd is better than Ray Leonard......
Floyd wouldn't even entertain fighting Duran. He would retire again and call the sport "Boring" like he did the first time he ran away from the red hot WW division.
You said this exact same fking quote 2 years ago when I posted this thread. :rofl Think it was on page 5 or 6 or something.
I think Floyd would have problems with all the 80's and early 90's welterweight champs.....Beating Leonard, Curry, and Hearns would be out the question....I still favor Duran over him at any weight except 130...and McCollum, Norris, and Hearns handilly over him at 154. Sweat pea had a shot at any weight to beat him I also like Aaron Pryor at 135 & 140 over him, Taylor and Chavez to. Trinidad had a shot at 147 & 154, Mugabi, Jackson, McClellan, Nigel Benn all had punchers chances at 154. At 147 Simon Brown, Starling, and Mcgirt all would have fought him well...I aslo favor Vernon Forrest over him at 147 and Livingston Bramble over him at 135. He is unbeatable at 130....but his lack of power makes him beatable at anything over 130
Mayweather haters sa said he only fights once a year then he takes a year off (one fight) and say he 'ran away' or 'ducked' the 'red hot' WW division.. They said Oscar was 'old' and 'shot' when Floyd beat him, then they say he 'ducked' the rematch.. No one finds this stupid? Does can anyone who says this help me out on understanding what you mean...
The one Dejesus beat, maybe. 154, possibly. 147 hell naw boy lol! I doubt Floyd has Rays chin or resistance to bodyshots. Duran was much stronger than Floyd too tho Floyd is underestimated in that area. Montreal Duran only possibly gets beat by Robinson at his best. Duran is prototypical pressure fighter. Every boxers nightmare.
Stop using that excuse "Floyd wouldn't fight so and so" every time we have a Mayweather VS ATG fighter thread just because you don't want to answer the question. Yall ruin these types of threads. Do you people understand that ducking someone and not being able to beat someone are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Fighter A avoiding Fighter B is not equivalent to Fighter A not being able to beat fighter B. Fighter A can avoid fighter B and still have the ability to beat the living **** out of Fighter B. We've seen this throughout history, guys avoiding guys who they most likely would have beaten. The ducking excuse doesn't work in comparison threads between fighters of different eras, the only comparisons we can draw is if someone would or wouldn't beat someone else. This seems like it's a conversation that most of yall are scared to discuss.
am i the only that saw that fight for what it was??? the whole game plan was to not allow duran the time to get in shape for the rematch. dundee and leonard have both openly admitted this. don king and duran's manager sold duran down the river.
That was the one who was rushed into the rematch 5 months later. Talkin about Montreal Duran that pummeled the bigger, younger, faster Leonard in the first one. You know which one. That night Duran was unstoppable.
Because Ray fought a dumb fight, what matters is what happens after and he quit and lost the 3rd bout.. 5 months is rushed??
