Don't forget the fight was already postponed due to a Mayweather "injury". Marquez would have probably been out a year had he not went with the fight.

So it's worse than we thought? FMJ isn't just taking on a featherweight at a catchweight, he's taking on a featherweight at welterweight?

    :think

Now why did Marquez accept it? If you put yourself in his shoes (difficult to do) you will hopefully begin to understand why he has accepted the fight. He is receiving the biggest payday of his career, so would he really cancel the fight? There are no belts on the line. He has trained very hard unlike floyd (obviously, unless he had this stunt planned all along). These are the few points which i presume why marquez agreed to the fight.

Anyway, that was to shut you up regarding why marquez accepted the fight. You seem to be missing the point. People are mad because Floyd lied to all the fans. He already had the size advantage even if they both weighed in at 144 let alone floyd coming in at 146lbs. It about principles and professionlism. IMO this stunt defines floyd as a person. It's a stunt which a true great (which mayweather wants to be recognised as) would never do. In a recent interview, he said something alone the lines of, he needs a couple of more fights to be recognised as the best fighter ever. Is a stunt like this really going to help him achieve his goal? He also brags about why boxing is a great sport, but when in reality stunts like this and all the other politics involved in his cherry picking career is what is killing the sport.

Floyd may "technically" be correct in regards to what has gone on with the contract negotiations with Marquez, but they is way way way beyond the point. There are many other points (some mentioned above) as why everybody is so mad.

Just to let you know, im not mad at all because i never buy floyds fights anyway and also IMO it makes no difference at what weight Floyd weighed in at, because he will win either way as he is naturally a bigger guy. I might start paying more attention to him once he starts fighting elite fighters in his own weightclass

You can't expect him to trade with a smaller, slower, shorter, older fighter! This is Mayweather

It's another bull**** excuse for a bull**** move that Floyd made. Marquez ain't about to drop out of the fight because of sLbs considering everything that is at stake. Does that excuse Mayweather coming in over the agreed 144lbs limit? Hell no.

JJM team wanted to keep him as close as they can to his natural weight to help him keep his speed and movement. A bit like Manny when he came in 143 I think vs ODH for the 147 fight.
