I am looking for some advice here, I know it is over a year away but I am planning a trip to Vegas for my 21st and I am trying to coincide it with a Mayweather fight. Is the Cinco De Mayo holiday the first weekend in May so the fight would be Saturday the 2nd? Secondly there were rumours of Floyd fighting in the Barclays centre this May which turned out false is it risky to book too far in advance for Vegas or is it a dead cert that his remaining 3 fights will all be in the MGM, cheers
Venue is negotiated on a fight to fight basis. However, it's pretty obvious that Vegas is where the money is. I'd be surprised if he had a fight at another venue given the typical gate the MGM Grand has been earning for his fights. They are pulling in record numbers at the gate. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
In regards to venue, this. However in general I would def wait until tickets go on sale. There is no reason to get everything booked this far in advance. You never know exactly what is going to happen. Maybe he breaks his hand and his September '14 fight gets pushed back, which messes with the whole schedule for 2015 in order for him to get the six fights before the end of 2015. You just never know.
Appreciate the advice, just trying to weigh up if it is worth the risk at the chance of getting cheaper flights coming from the UK. Although it would probably be safer holding off.
You don't need to book flights that far out in advance to get a nice discount. As long as they give you the typical 3-4 months warning, you'll be fine.
If you were looking to go to the September '14 fight, then I'd say chancing it may be worth it. But this far ahead? Just too much. Mayweather tickets always take a while to sell out, so no rush for that. MGM will have open rooms when the tickets for the fight go on sale, so you're also good in that regard. (I went to Mayweather/Ortiz so I kinda know what I'm saying... a little bit)... I guess it all comes down to the plane ticket prices from UK, which I would know nothing about. Still, just wait. Would be the worst thing ever to have everything so planned out and then end up going to Vegas to catch a FNF card on the Old Strip (not that it wouldn't be a blast in its own right, buuuuut).
