"It was pitiful stuff. The president of the MGM Grand, on hand to introduce what is normally a brilliant bit of theatre before the big event, was heckled into oblivion. In the end he gave up, handing the microphone to Michael Buffer with a mystified shrug of the shoulders. If you could have got close enough you might have heard him mutter "who are these guys?"

    From the UK Telegraph.

I love this country the UK. I love London, I love England most of all, but I also love Scotland, I love Wales and I love Northern Ireland.

But the next time you guys come over here to fight one of our greatest athletes there needs to be some respect and some dignity. No excessive drinking, no singing, no booing national anthems. I could say more, but we'll leave it at that. God Save the Queen.

    Completely agree with that.
Im Australian and i reckon USA needs to get over them selves.
You were more than happy with floyd when he was being disrectful throughout the fight tour.
The english fans made the fight what it was.
They supported him even after he lost.
Its all in a bit of fun and adds to the atmosphere.
    Dont take things to seriously

I been to tons of fights and I've got to say the crowd at the Cotto/Judah fight was the most disrespectful I've ever witnessed. The building was in my estimation 75% pro Cotto and they loudly and enthusiastically booed the National Anthem from start to finish

I don't recall this, but if it did happen it is pathetic. Puerto Rico is part of the U.S... Now I think that the U.K. is merely a vassal state at this point, but they can at least claim independence superficially...

That's just as disrespectful, and it is kind of worse, since that means americans actually like it when they are represented by people like Mayweather.

I wouldn't have booed it, but show a high level of respect? Many don't respect their national anthem, and quite rightly so.

I am happy to be represented in the excellence personified by Floyd Mayweather. That is, if he doesn't mind being latched onto like that.

In any case, screw you. I like this fellow, the furniture dealer of IKEA fame from Sweden (that guy did something great), and you have a few hot babes over there but basically you are a bunch of socialist low lives. Who cares about Sweden. Small potatoes... Or should I say meat balls.

    Good post mate!

What did the Aussies think about your anthem being bood during the Kostya fight? The reason I ask is because I believe the Aussies saw it for the pantomime that it was and played along with it and gave as good as they got.

I just think Americans aren't used to international crowd culture. I can't blame them for being upset but I wish they wouldn't take it so seriously but then again, this is the nation that cries for a ripped stars and stripes and would shoot a man for accidentally sneezing on their flag.

Also, it should be remembered that it was Floyd who first started making this a nation Vs nation thing. He started claiming it was the US versus the UK.

And of course that "Classy" nice guy Fatton fed the whole thing with his cretinous fans by his embarrassing "Let's ****in' ave 'im" closing line at the weigh-in.

Booing national anthem is not a good thing. Ever. It may be ok to some, but generally speaking a lot of people around the world would find it highly offensive. Booing the national anthem shows a total lack of any manners and decency. No ****ing excuse.

Maybe you have a short memory then as HBO commentators(Americans) talked throughout the minute silence for a recently passed away Welsh rugby player during the intros for Calzaghe/Kessler.Complete disrespect for the dead

That said, two wrongs don't make a right, and booing the oppo National Anthem is not big and not clever
