this isn't accurate. tiger woods is currently the biggest athlete in the country (black in white majority sport that most people find boring to watch on tv) in terms of income+endorsements, and probably fame. fame is hard to guage.
floyd can be compared to gene tunney. tunney was a pure boxer who was seemingly unhittable/unbeatable in the prime of his career (lost only once to greb, which he avenged 3 times). His style was criticized as boring and he paid the price for it financially. he frequently lashed out at the media and they did not appreciate it, and made him the bad guy in his clashes against jack dempsey.
floyd is a lot more successful than a "joe calzaghe of america." he has a lot more money and a lot more name recognition, maybe even in Joe's own country. he could buy joe calzaghe several times over and use enzo calzaghe as his butler.
i don't know about any treatment brock lesnar is getting, but yea he shouldn't be getting any at all. that's probably dana white's marketing talking. gotta fill up all that espn time with something.

And if Folyd does all these great things, he should make it known. But that doesn't offset his stupidity and showboating. Humility goes a long way towards winning over hearts.

 

The reason Floyd isn't loved or respected is simply this: If he fought half as much as he ran his trap he would get some respect. Fight a legit welterweight you will get some respect. Engage instead of pot-shotting, dancing, and stinking out the joint, and you'll get some respect. However, as far as black athletes and the media are concerned I cannot argue with him on that one. See Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress, Joey Porter, Dante Stallworth (whom actually wasn't ran through the mud from what I saw) as recent examples. However, I do recall Michael Phelps and the tweeked out Nascar guy getting some decent air time (now that's what I call a speed freak!!). Racism exists, the sky is blue, taxes are forever, and the government lies. It's all part of this beautiful little phenomenon called life in an industrialized nation. Look it up.
