Last night's main event is what we want in a PPV main event. It was an action filled, back and forth fight. I made a lot of posts before this fight saying that This was going to be a tough, competitive fight for Mayweather and it was. Both fighters looked pretty good out there and gave it there all.

It was a weird fight in someways. I thought it was the toughest fight Mayweather had since Castillo, yet I thought Mayweather clearly won 9 or 10 rounds. I thought Mayweather looked like he had lost a step, yet I thought it was arguably one of his most impressive performances. I also thought Cotto put on one of the best performances of his career. I have no complaints about either guy. I was thoroughly entertained, there was little holding, and no controversy. What a good night for boxing.

Side note, Mayweather's attitude seems to have altered a bit. Not only did he not trash Cotto leading up to the fight, but he actually apologized to Merchant, was very gracious to the HBO crew, and even volunteered to do an impromptu interview with Steward and Lampley. You could tell that he was extremely proud of himself.

    great PPV!
Floyd could have boxed him but he kept to his promise!
Cotto could have just came for the money, he didn't!
Floyd nearly had him in the 12th, GREAT FIGHT!

You know, Reg, I think he's wanted to get out of that for a while but keeps getting sucked back in. Gets outright goaded into it, sometimes.

This is the kind of fight people wanted to see Floyd engaged in for a good long while. He's been doing such a good job of not getting hit so when he does get hit, people think he will fold. Cotto won some rounds. I think Floyd seperated himself on the cards during the latter part of the fight. He should stick to not watching film. The left uppercut that Judah and Pacquiao landed on Cotto were what worked for them. He tried to what they did and really didn't do what he needed to do with his offense. He should've stuck to Floyd's offense with the straight right hands. I also saw that Floyd is slowing down (which will happen when you get older and move up in weight) but what I really saw was him lose a step from his killer instinct. When he fought Shane and he got a little bit of seperation, he landed hard straight right hands. I saw many opportunites where he slept the right hand in close quarters. All in all an outstanding show put on by both fighters.

    Good fight.

Cotto put on one hell of a fight, much props to him. Props to Floyd too, who also put up a great performance.

I never really liked Mayweather because he flaunts his money around and I just can't support a guy like that. Last night my family wanted to watch the fight so I ordered a Mayweather card for the first time in my life and I was glad they talked me into it when it was all said and done.

Just about everyone in the boxing community, all the Mayweather fans rate him so highly and Mayweather seems to want to live up to everyones expectations, wants to earn the praise, not just be undeserved hype. When a fighter puts tremendous effort, courage and heart on display, I can't ask for anything more and that's what I pay to see. I appreciate how he even thanked the fans after the bout for supporting him, and he seemed to realize how blessed he is.

I also feel that he really wants the Pacquiao fight, is not scared or fears for his life. He wants to give the fans a show, and hopefully him and Arum can find some middle ground and make it happen.
