This isn't even news. Floyd wanted to fight a much greener Cotto at the time. At 147 is when it should have happened, as at least BOTH would be in their prime, as opposed to just Floyd.

Arum didn't say that, don't put words in Arum's mouth.

Arum did say it because that's what the fans wanted to hear. :yep

Cotto was like 24 at the time and was a belt holder. That's like people saying Bradley shouldn't fight Khan because Khan is too green. Cotto doesn't match up well with Mayweather, and at no point in his career would he have ever beaten Mayweather. I'm inclinded to believe Mayweather on this one. Now if Floyd was claiming he was begging for a fight with Margarito, I would have a hard time believing that.

Khan isn't fighting Mayweather RIGHTNOW is he? You can't just bring up something similar because it's similar. Boxers progress as different rates. I don't have to tell you that.

But the point is, Arum was right not to match Cotto with him then. Too soon for Cotto to fight someone of Floyd's status. They'd have been better off doing it at 147, regardless of who we think wins. Why didn't he try when Cotto was beating Shane and Zab? A much better version of Cotto then.

You know the least Cotto could have done was actually pretend like he ever wanted to fight Mayweather.

Cotto should have been doing what Khan is doing right now. Instead he'd rather let Arum do his talking for him. Oh yeah, that's really gonna make Floyd stand up and take notice. Great fighter but Cotto is a dumbass. And the 1 lb catchweight is more proof of that.

He ducked Cotto in 2008 when the fight was at its peak and went to wwe. No revisionist propaganda will ever change this fact.

Cotto NEVER had a real chance against Floyd.
