Right:good an WRONG :verysad Mayweather, when he retired manny was pulling in big PPV numbers, it is not till mayweather fought DLH did he bring in numbers, or he would of been on PPV long before that. Manny does not need mayweather, were mayweather needs manny. Mayweather has been sponging off of manny for years now, did not happen with DLH for some reason, HBO tried though. One thing is certain, HBO exec's did not lose sleep that night, cause just like the million plus they sold for that night, they know Pacman is there money machine not mayweather, they know they can take risk with pacman, cause people will come back for more. Once mayweather loses, he will have lost his earning ability. There won't be any rocky story for him, unless he can find away to hook his wagon to manny pacman... Know why? manny is great to watch, look at last Saturday match, he went straight at him, no stopping, round won, an he still chasing him down.... to compare a sponge like mayweathers appeal to a fighter liky manny is disgraceful. But manny is far from being bad for the sport, he is great, I was in vegas for the fight, close circuit, an there were people from all groups there, meet a couple of Italians that came over just to see it close circuit. I bet $100 on manny knocking him out, I lost. But it was great fight, I just wished if It could of went 3 more rounds...
neither fighter pulled in big PPV till they fought DLH. Get your facts right and stop being such a *******.
The thing about these casuals is that they will watch Mayweather v Pac regardless, and whoever bought this last PPV loved it.
Mayweather did 900,000 vs Ricky Hatton. 1.1 millon against Marquez. All before Pacquiao dispatched Cotto. 5 month avatar bet Mayweather's next fight pulls in 1,000,000 buys. Mayweather gets more buys and generates more revenue. How do you work out that its Pacquiao who is the main attraction and not Mayweather?
Not Bob Arum, who has a history of being petty and having fights blow up in his lap on his watch if he isn't the only one making money.
It's a different fight altogether. Marquez distinguished himself even more stylistically from Mayweather to casuals who identify "counter-punchers" by going to war with Manny and using his size to duck downwards and to the side to distract Pac and get leverage into his shot. People are still going to wonder if Manny can give Floyd's particular defensive style trouble, and if that fight gets signed, the hype is going to be crazy.
Listening to Max Kellermans radio show and he basically said this, that he was disappointed in Pac getting Koed now the May vs Pac fight lost its luster and hes basically pissed at both of them for ducking each other and said they basically screwed over boxing. Kellerman said the most exciting fight to be made right now is Rios vs Marquez, and Pac should fight some mediocre fighters to build his confidence up before going straight after JMM again.
You have no clue, he fought DLH in 2008, he had already I think 5 PPV fights by then, maybe more. It was the barrea fight that put him on the map, remember, bet money on manny. Huge upset paid like 3 to one, after that they PPV a lot of his fights. If I remember correctly all three morales fights were PPV.... like watching pacman fight, but not really up on all his stuff, but I am 100% sure you just typed some bad facts. :bbb No problem cause ***** is a homo
There will be an inherent diminishing of interest amongst casuals now that Pac's perceived invincibility has been destroyed. That said, the fight would still sell like hotcakes if it ever gets made. Perhaps not the 3 million PPV's it was once predicted to generate, but plenty will would still buy.
You can not blame the boxers for the sport going from a top 3 sport in the world to not even a top 10 sport. The entire blame is on the boxing federations and also the fans.
My point is Pacman just lost to Bradley early this year, correct, now he just lost to JMM. IMO manny names will lose very little in his PPV draw, were mayweather if he loses will drop way down on the draw. You could put manny in against decent name an it is still going to sell PPV.... I would not doubt he sells a million, but once he loses, unless he fights a DLH/manny hyped name, he would never come close to that number again. Let say manny deceideds to fight Ortiz next, it will have a good PPV numbers, lets say 800,000. But if mayweather were to have lost to juan in the same fashion, he would not get any numbers like that with a fight with Ortiz. Floyd sponged off of manny, an HBO exec know it...:bbb
You are obviously American. Manny has done so much for boxing around the world for over a decade. Floyd Mayweather is a clown and the fight wasn't a factor even if Manny had won. It's not 2009 anymore. What is hurting boxing is a top fighters not fighting each other, cheaters using steroids and corrupt decisions.
Casuals are the ones who make these huge ppv events. Before the DLH fight Floyd couldn't draw flies but since that fight he has been the darling of the casuals who like to get together for the big ppv events. He changed his whole persona and it paid off big. People are still dying to see big fights and he is perceived by the casuals to be the best fighter in the world and perception is reality, so they put up their money to see him. Don't let anybody tell you that boxing is dead. It is huge all over the world and getting bigger. Sometimes is gets pushed to the backburner in the US because of all the other sports, but that is nothing that a great young heavyweight champion out of the US wouldn't cure
