No way the contract gets signed by tomorrow, and here's why.

    1. Arum's "Deadline": Arum set a strict deadline for Floyd, and even placed a timer on his website. We all know that Floyd doesn't respond well to that type of authority. Even Schaefer stated that he "laughed his ass off" when he saw the timer.

    2. Taxes: Mayweather earned about $70 million this year. He's projected to get about that same amount for the Pac fight alone. He will choose to take the rest of the year off, and take the fight between March and May of next year. This way the earnings get filed with 2011 taxes, instead of 2010.

    3. Uncle Roger: There is too much uncertainty surrounding Roger's future. Last time he was charged with the same crime he did 6 months. If convicted this time he will probably get a stiffer sentence and not be available to train Floyd for a November showdown. After the trial, Floyd will have a better idea on when he will fight again.

    Thoughts ...

I think Floyd Mayweather Jr may be the biggest coward in the history of prize fighting.

Nope - not if Arum sets the deadline. The whole reason Floyd left Top Rank is because he didn't want Arum dictating his fights.

If Mayweather isn't shamed by this, I dunno... It's a direct challege... He's always saying people need to call him out, so, this should do it, right?

He's better off fighting this year. Obama's going to raise taxes next year to help pay for stimulus/health care/gulf oil spill/war/financial regulation.

Floyd is THAT reliant on a trainer to win? I mean the implication here is that Floyd can't win without Roger, so he won't fight?

    Sounds ***** to me.

In two weeks..its August. August, September, October..November 13th.

Wow, 3 and a half months and there's no fight? Maybe they can bump it to December to accomadate Roger?

One can argue that any reason is an excuse. Serious question though - do you think Pac/Arum would agree if Mayweather sent them a contract and gave the deadlines? Also, do you think Pac would fight Floyd if Roach wasn't available to train him?

I think the main reason is your 3rd one, the first one Floyd is an egomaniac, but at the end of the day all he cares about is the money. (from his own words) while he may laugh at a deadline if it means a 70 million dollar pay day he will get in on it.

Also the 2nd whether he makes 70 million, 40 million, or a 110 million it will all fall under the same tax bracket and wont make a difference whether he pays it in 2011 or 2012.
I think that 3rd is the main reason, Mayweather while being all about the money is big on family. While he was estranged from his father, he still managed to keep his family in the loop. I think for him its more of a support system, He has always had his uncle there, I honestly think that at this point in Mayweather's career whether Roger is there or not won't hinder his skill, but perhaps effect him mentally. Floyd has always been about his family getting paid and taken care of (and bieng there for him).....I don't respect him for alot of things, but as a family man he takes care of his own...and I can't be mad at him for that. :good
