..the Castillo (4 Mayweather) and Marquez (4 Pacquiao). I'm tired of people trying to find weaknesses in both fighters by watching those fights. It is useless as both are different beasts right now. The Cotto and Mosley fights confirmed it clearly for those who couldnt see it before. If some cant see the difference in their game stop watching boxing or at least stop posting.
I agree. Pacquiao is a far more complete fighter, not nearly as relient on one punch. He has since much improved his left and right hooks, his uppercuts, and his body work. He seems to keep his hands up more, and doesn't drop them as often on the way out. Also his timing has improved, and his ablity to take away his opponents weapons (Cotto's jab). His footwork has also improved, and he seems more versatile and more powerful. Mayweather, I think we saw a completely different fighter from before his retirement. People point to his reign at 130 as his glory days, and say he cannot compare to his old self now. I say bs. Before his retirement, he lost rounds to an old DLH, and actually had to struggle to beat Ricky Hatton. He comes back, and cannot be touched by a master technician, outclassing him like an amateur. The small man thing is an excuse by the haters, and always was. Floyd did not impose his size on Marquez, did not lean on him, did not throw power punches all night. He simply put on an exhibition, while a game Marquez chased him around the ring trying to land something. Then, a larger (than Hatton at least), stronger, more technical opponent like Mosley gets walked down by Mayweather, with relative ease aside from a 30 second part of the 2nd round. Mayweather is definately much improved.
I agree they have both improved but the vulnerabilities showed in those fights are still there. Mayweather has problems with that kind of pressure and manny is a sucker for a counter right hand, granted pbf has shown greater adaptability against pressure (hatton, jmm, mosley) and pac's balance has improved as he has came up the weights but the flaws shown in those fights are still there. But some nut huggers will always respond with 'pbf can't handle pressure, PAC uses his warrior heart fo rnd1 tko!' or 'PAC is an amateur with no defense, pbf schools him complete shut out'
True! Pacquiao footwork and balance are indeed much better as well as his accuracy. His patience and controlled offense are also new elements to his game. I like furiousness in the ring but I find controlled agression even more enjoyable to watch as it now the case for Pacquiao. Mayweather put 2 exhibitions in a row and I cant see him doing the same against Pacquiao but hopefully we will see it soon. This fight will not define them as fighters but will make us salivating from the time they sign it until fight time. It is more important IMO than where they will rank in the ATG list after the fight.
The biggest difference i see in both are that they have become more methodic in the ring. They break opponents DOWN
