he could have sweated out the extra two pounds but it was clearly deliberate. however it wasn't to ensure the win in this fight as most people are saying. he wanted to send a message to pacquaio and roach which said: if, and when we fight eachother, there will be no catch weights, 147 only.
What on earth makes you so certain of why he didn't try to take the weight off? Mind you, if you were right, whilst I'm unhappy at Marquez getting shafted, I'd be happy that he wanted to send that message.
Couldn't he have just taken the weight off (IF he could take the weight off) and just said post fight that he wouldn't be fighting at a catchweight again?
Mayweather had his contact changed to 147 before the weigh in, intiating it earlier in the week, surely with that time span he could have cut the weight, quite deliberate.
It was a great performance by Mayweather but clearly showed why there are weight classes in boxing. A mayweather fan watching the fight nearby said 'Mayweather started at 130! There ain't much size difference To which the other guy responded 'So then, let them rematch at 135.' Well said.
