Would have been more fights overall with Haymon but he got an amazing contract at Roc

ward would have little trouble with degale....ward easily beats the entire 168 division

kovalev poses the only threat....in my opinion ward beats him easier than most here think....but its still the only threat....kova could win.....

at the end of the day....his signing with roc is going to matter...or make his career any more or less signifigant.....maybe put a few more bucks in his pocket.....

I agree with you. I don't think anyone from 168 and below can beat Ward.

I'm just saying he would have options at staying at SMW had he signed with Haymon rather than essentially being forced into a fight with KOvalev at some point this year/next year.

I hear you. I'm not sure any of those 3 fights happen -- Kessler is retired; Froch is retired (at least until the Degale fight gets formally made), and the negotiations for a rematch between the two wound up dead in the water; and as for an Abraham fight, let's just say Andre Ward and his people have more chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa than getting Arthur Abraham to come to Oakland. The only way this fight happens is if Ward tand his prople take it upon themselves to face Abraham in Germany, or in a neatral venue (say, Monaco).

Up at 175, I expect Ward to get past Sullivan Barrera with ease -- perhaps a wide UD.

Andre Ward strikes me as the sort of guy who literally lives in the gym; but, this is little use if Roc Nation are not going to get Ward the right fight or fights to build him towards a showdown with Sergey Kovalev.

After Barrera, I don't really want to see Ward fighting the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Gabriel Campillo, Najib Mohammedi, Sakio Bika or Glen Johnson. As I said on another thread, Andrzej Fonfara would be an ideal opponent for Ward to showcase himself at 175. Eleider Alvarez is another. After fighting one of those two -- possibly in late July -- Roc Nation should then push to get the Kovalev fight signed and sealed, maybe for late November / early December 2016.

if he had signed the exact same deal with The Maricon Team then Mayweather would call it a smart business decision

a degale fight is prob the only one at 168 that brings any interest to the public(he wont fight dirrell)....and thats not really that big of a fight...i think aside from that there isnt much at 168 thats gonna be any bigger than any fights hes gonna get at 175 before kovalev....just my opinion though

Let's face it: had Ward signed with Haymon and not Roc Nation, a Stevenson vs Ward fight may well have been in the offing. Given the beef between Al Haymon and Jay Z, there is next to no hope of that fight happening now.

if Ward didn't want to fight Stevenson after he knocked Dawson out of his senses, despite being called out LIVE on TV, then why would he want to fight him now?

Which is to say Ward should of parted ways with HBO (a relationship that both parties seem comfortable with) which is to say bye bye to any potential bouts with Kovalev and GGG.

    This is significant because;

    (1) Ward was aware of the cold war between Jay-Z and Haymon
    (2) Ward knew that Jay-Z DKSAB
    (3) Ward knew that Haymon is #1 Manager and MP is #1 promoter.

Knowing all of the above Ward still decided to sign with Roc Nation which was a very poor professional career decision but a very good financial one.

There was never any real chance that K2 would agree and allow Ward to ruin Little g and future profits.

Even if Ward had signed with Haymon a fight with Kovalev could have still been made. This is the biggest fight available and I'm sure Haymon could have worked an inter-network deal....but Roc Nation can't.
