Mayweather beat a much better version of Hatton than Pacquaio did. FACT!

And bigger means what exactly to you? If Hatton fought at JrMW and weighed more then his opponent, like say Kirkland, does that mean he's bigger? Maybe a better version too?

The point is, all boxers have a weight they are most comfortable, and perform their best at. For Hatton, it was 140.

that's not to knock Floyd's win at all. Although YOU are the one trying to Knock Pac's.

When Floyd beat hatton, I gave him props for closing the show like a champ.

This would good rebuttal but it factually inaaccurate. Judah wasn't depressed, coked up none of that ****. He underestimated Baldmomir and wasn't prepared. He was motivated for Floyd just got outclassed.

Same thing with Marquez. He was just outclassed. He looked fine at the weight when he was schooling Pac

Ricky Hatton for the Mayweather fight

    At WW (147)
    Hatton was undefeated
Trained by life long friend and mentor Billy Graham
Conditioned by equally as close Kerry Kays
    Undisputed king at 140lbs
    Title holder at 147lbs

This Hatton had the winning mentality, no fear of getting beaten or hurt, much less stopped. Training camp ran smoothly, Billy Graham was no camera *****, it was a dance with what bought you to the fight sort of camp. It wasn't broke, they didn't try to fix it.

    Mayweather TKO 10

    Hatton for Pacquaio fight

    JWW (140)
    One loss to Mayweather
    Undusputed king of 140lbs still
Victory over Paulie M in previous fight
Struggled with Juan Lazcano even getting hurt two bouts back.
Trained by Floyd Mayweather senior, also factor in Lee Beard
    Rumors of depression

Hatton did not have a good training camp, 3 months at an intense pace was too much.
Floyd Mayweather Senior was a camera *****, often late to train Hatton and eager to be the centre of attention. Also FMsr fell out with Lee Beard. Hatton getting beat up by Lara. Floyd Senior late on fight night.

    Manny Pacquaio KO 2

Floyd fought the better version of Hatton, beyond question. Fighting at WW would be a viable factor if Ricky was fighting a Margarito who re-hydrated to huge numbers, but he was taking on Mayweather who was little more of a JWW him self.

Floyd will get so much props for beating Cotto at 154. A weight he has no business at

Your argument still makes no sense Lance. Hatton at 140, would rehydrate to around 152 on fight night. Your implying that this was more confortable to him.

He weighed 145 at the weigh in for Floyd. If for some reason, as you claim, he was more confortable weighing in at 140, then he could've just cut the extra 5 lbs, and weighed 140 like normal, just like Floyd didn't bother trying to weigh 154 for Oscar. But him supposedly being more confortable at 140 is completely irrelevant to this topic.

 Trying to take my words I see. What you FAIL to add to the equation is WHO they face as well. Good try though. You look at a complex thing like boxing in too simplistic a view chump. There's WAAY more to it then just one little sentence.

Floyd got props for beating DLH at JrMW already though. And deservedly BTW.

Before moving to 160, DLH had a good track record at 154. Right now, Cotto doesn't have a single win over a ranked JrMW.
Another thing you don't take into consideration I see. :thumbsup

No, his record and how he performed indicates that.

See, now that's making assumptions. My guess (only a guess) is Hatton wanted to add bulk to try to absorb punches from a bigger guy better. Just as JMM did. It would have been crazy to fight at 135 vs. Floyd, even though that was where he was at the time.

And no, it's not irrelevant to the topic, it's actually hand in hand, since guys moving up aren't always at their best when they move up. Some guys move up easier then others. Just how it is.

These are the type of arguments you like. Simple, don't require research or your opinion. That's why 99.9% of the posters here don't respect you. Fiend.

respect for admitting that its a guess, and I'm gonna have to disagree with you. there was no talk about Hatton trying to add bulk. He didn't need too. Like I said he was actually bigger than Floyd, not the other way around. He just liked to drain to 140 so he could have even more of an advantage.

Agreed, I second this, and anyone else who thinks differently should think before they speak( or type in this case). The Collazo fight is a PERFECT example to back the claim.

It should be noted that Hatton was also coming off of 2 wins in a row when he fought Pacquiao, one UD and a TKO of Paul Malignaggi who had only lost one fight in his career up to that point. I don't think he was the shaken, fragile, shadow of his former self the OP has tried to bolster, all that **** came after the Pacquiao defeat even though the Mayweather loss was obviously devastating as it was his first loss. Keep in mind that Hatton seldom fought over 140, while Mayweather was at 154 in his previous fight against De La Hoya so the weight had no effect on him, especially in comparison to Hatton having to gain the weight.

Need I also remind everyone that Hatton came into the Pacquiao fight with exact opposite circumstances from the Mayweather fight? Hatton was the naturally bigger man and thought to be the bigger puncher. No one expected what happened to happen, least of all Hatton. Coming off of his demolition of Malignaggi, some even had Hatton as the favorite against the much smaller Pacquiao.

Let's see how Mayweather handles Cotto and then compare performances, because I think that Cotto is coming in better against Mayweather than he did against Pacquiao simply because he's coming off of 3 very successful outings, the most important one being against Margarito, opposed to coming off of a loss to Margarito, a TKO of a nobody, and a split decision against Clottey. There's always that possibility that Cotto ya know...WINS too. What then?

The Paulie win is over rated. He was going through his own crisis with Buddy McGirt, who had Paulie fighting a different style that didn't fit.
It wasn't the Paulie who went out on his shield vs Cotto, or the guy who beat Diaz.

Just because there's no talk, doesn't mean it's not there. As message boarders, we have to have the humilty to accept we don't get all information all the time. WAAY too many times posters think there needs to be a quote or source or article for everything. What can I admit? That Hatton did perform better vs. guys who could make 140. Just as it was vs. Pac. Maybe you can admit Floyd preferred to fight some guys at a weight HE was better at as well. :hey
