Stop repeating that BS that Uncle Bob told you. He also wasn't a damn draw. He was a basic fighter with little KO power. The only thing that he had going for him was that he was from TJ and he STILL had an anemic Mexican following. Who the hell was he before Mayweather turned him down? Who until Cotto? WHO? :huh He wasn't feared. Who feared him? Clottey? Whipped on his ass. Williams? Whipped his ass. Who feared him? Who? The first elite fighter he stepped into the ring with was Cotto. The second was Mosley and he outed him as a cheater and knocked him spark out. Please find me the tear that he was on that made him so feard? http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=11677&cat=boxer So, like I said, he made no sense.
De La Hoya is completely irrelevant because Floyd chose to fight Baldomir. De La Hoya has nothing to do with it. Christ you are dumb.:nut At least you are admitting to how clueless you are by saying "I don't give a **** blah blah blah" failing to address the topic when proven wrong.
Mayweather fought Baldomir to get to De La Hoya ***. If Mayweather fought Margarito he wouldnt have got to fight DLH because Arum is a crook. Nobody gives a **** about Margarito's record. Nobody cares that he beat Six heads Lewis, Cintron and Cotto with hardened gloves. Only ***s like you thought he was good, anyone with an eye for actual talent knew he was only good because he imposed his will on smaller fighters. Against Daniel Santos a guy his own size, he lost. Get over it. That ship has sailed.
He hadn't lost to Williams by then. Cintron, high flying Clottey. I know he wasn't a draw. I didn't say he was. But it was the general consensus amongst the boxing community at the time that this dude was mean and dangerous. Far more so than Baldomir. That is a fact. Only deluder nuthuggers will deny this.
What I meant was, some fighters have achieved nothing in the game except their reputations. No belts, not much money - but just left a legacy. Lots of fighters have styles. Had potential they didn't tap into, or opportunities they didn't quite exploit. Like Nigel Benn - feared fighter, big KO puncher, but never really got his opportunity on the world stage (the way Calzaghe did). No Vegas or Madison Square Gardens, but still has a lot of respect. Other fighters had their performances. Margarito and Clottey are known for taking massive batterings and VERY rarely being put to the deck. Pacquiao and Naseem Hamed are known for being massive punchers. Mayweather isn't known like that. He is known for being the most skilled boxer in the sport, the one who has all the belts he could need. The one who inches his way to points victories moving up the weight divisions, fighting in the most conservative pragmatic fashion known in the sport. For him to come out and say 'Belts don't do nothing but collect dust' is baffling. ALL he has is his BELTS; no marvellous KO record, no fans favourite, little respect in the sport, some dubious points victories, and accusations of cherry picking and ducking (before moving up weight divisions). Other boxers have everything except the belts; magnificent performances, big KO records, fans favourites... It's a strange comment to hear specifically from him, that's all I'm saying.
Floyd fought Baldomir because Arum wanted to re sign Floyd to a multi fight contract, something that Floyd did not want (after buying himself out of his contract with Arum) unless it was going to guarantee him good money BUT Arum would only guarantee less money for bigger threats and claimed the DLH that Floyd was pursuing was out of the question.
Read this article noob ESPNs Dan Rafeal reported on this. The reason for the split between Mayweather and Top Rank was reported as follows in Rafeals 2006 article on ESPN.com. Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million. Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasnt interested in participating in. Thats not in the cards, Arum said. He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? Its not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to holdem and when to foldem. http://www.nowboxing.com/2010/03/mayweather-vs-arum-the-history/8846/ Lets see, 8 mil to fight Margarito, or 20 mil to fight Oscar. Hmmm
Stop being such a twat. Christ what are you 10 years old. I hate Margarito. I stated facts and you can't seem to handle them. For the record I don't think Margarito was ever that good, but he was way more feared than Baldomir. And certainly a tougher fight which would look much better on Floyd's resume. You nuthuggers are so defensive it ridiculous. I correct you and you resort to ad hominem. Sad
No you idiot. Damn do you just revise history for fun or because your brain can't keep it all straight? -- FMJ chose to fight the WW champion who was Judah -- He signed the contract and Judah lost -- He honored the contract and fought Judah -- We went on to fight the Lineal WW Champion who was... BALDOMIR:deal It is you who is clueless friend. Here is a gem. It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
1. Mayweather has tons of respect in the sport, you'll rarely hear anyone say anything bad personally about him. Even Freddie Roach who is constantly talking trash said he likes Floyd Mayweather. 2. Floyd only has one dubious points victory, that was his 1st fight with Castillo. 3. Any one who's been following boxing longer then 2008 can cite Mayweathers dominating wins over Corrales and Gatti as fan favorites. Anyone who's followed his career knows that he's had some hella exciting fights. 4. His "cherry picking" is opinion.
The only way Floyd gets to fight DLH is to not fight Margarito. Because the only way he gets to fight Margarito is to sign a new promotion deal with Arum who he had just bought himself out.
Who cares? He also wasn't the WW champion! No it wasn't. It was your Daddy Bob Arum pumping your head full of crap. Just like he pumped your head full of 20 different excuses why Pac didn't want to test. Like always? You gumps ate that crap up. He also can count on you idiots having the memory span of a 6 week old puppy. Here is "Lyin" Brian Kenny speaking on the "challenge" that FMJ is "ducking" leading up to the Judah fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kXwJo7DWPA[/ame] History always changes for you clowns! Just say you are a hater. Own that ignorance.
They tend to forget that Floyd had just bought himself out of Arum's contract on him. Yet he wanted Floyd to re sign a multi fight deal in order to fight Margarito.
