**** Floyd mayweather. He will NEVER be on the same level with the ture greats of the sport. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZdLJAYzV9M - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJd2j4LKMU8 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd2UOFou0Uw - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gac4u7iqclk - He ain't even close.
Not of all time. I still think Julio Cesar Chavez had a slightly better resume than Mayweather. Same goes for Sweet Pea. But I will say that Floyd is very very very good.
To begin with, Mayweather doesn't have the resume of a Leonard, and bringing up Robinson in the same breath should be considered a cardinal sin. Not that Floyd doesn't have that same level of talent. But he seems content to feast on guys he know he can beat easily rather than really pushing himself. Now, Leonard pushed himself. Sure, he probably thought he could be Duran and Hagler and Leonard, but I'm sure he had his doubts. He was the naturally smaller fighter in 2 of 3 of those fights. Mayweather on the other hand has no doubts. And that's shouldn't surprise anyone because he's been feasting on naturally smaller fighters for years now. To become an all time great he really must push himself. He's got to take on a fighter like Paul Williams or maybe even a Pavlik. He can keep feasting on guys like Pacquaio (as great as he is, he's just too small). And what exactly will beating Cotto prove? He's already been ko'ed. If he just wants to go for the big money fights, that's one thing. But he really should stop comparing himself to sugar ray and Ali when he refuses to truly challenge himself.
floyd's going to be compared to the best fighters, and rightfully so, no matter how sentimental people want to be. whats really going to hurt him when people talk about him though isn't his ability - its his inability to back up 100% everything he says. a pacman fight can go a long way to dispelling that (based on the weight they fight at), because right now most people think pac is the best chance or the only chance to beat floyd. but don't fool yourselves and think that floyd isn't in a league with the greatest fighters there have been - just because he doesnt have the 'myth' which never surrounds an active modern day fighter.
lol Do u guys watch boxing... mayweather fought two guys that were in a different weight class then him and one of those guys may have been bigger then he was which was hatton... being that floyd is a small welterweight to begin with... and in terms of all this ducking and dodging.. all these guys u idiots always bring up were all offered fights by mayweather and turned it down... cotto was offered a fight when he was at 140... mosley was offered a fight twice and turned down first one and said tooth was hurting for 2nd one... so get your facts right before you start commenting... thats the problem with you noobs on here
