Ali was more talented. His speed, reflexes etc if shrunk to a lightweight become off the chart. However Ali has nothing and I mean nothing on Floyd technically. Watch Floyd offensively against Judah or Corley and Ali has nothing on that.
What's the point? You'd just give it the usual 'i don't care what they accomplished, they're old and therefore ****' routine.
got to be honest, i feel the ATG AND HOF'ER tags are only something you can give or assign once someone has retired.
I take it you have never seen PBfs CV then ... it reads like a whos who of boxing JMM, Hatton , Gatti , Castillox2 , Oscar , Judah , Baldomir , Corrales to name but a few .... if you think thats shite then you should maybe take up a new interest !
People just hate on Floyd's record and style because he's such a dick at times. Trying to justify why he isn't a great fighter is just daft. Leonard was just as much of a **** as Floyd..... as was Ali in a lot of ways.
Nail on the head time .... PBF does seem an arrogant **** but once he gets in the ring you gotta admire his skills ... he is something special as a boxer
No, no, no, no, no, no!! Without including any of the old timers, If he is top 5 then justify rating him over these guys (who generally aren't seen in the top 5): Roberto Duran Pernell Whitaker Julio Cesar Chavez Marvin Hagler Sugar Ray Leonard Thomas Hearns ....
No, because the opposition he has beaten are no great shakes in the grand scheme of things. I hate Ray Leonard FAR MORE and where is he on my list? No.21. Hate is one thing, but I'm ALWAYS unobjective when it comes to measuring resumes against other peoples. In the days of numerous belts and weights, Floyds 'accomplishments' just don't mean that much.
That's where I have those guys. And no, Floyd certainly hasn't taken on/conquered the kinda' challenges those guys have. I think a lot of Floyd's praise stems from people overrating Hatton as well.
You can only beat the quality of opposition thats out there which PBF has .... dont get me wrong these guys are all great fighters .. but the whole face and marketability of boxing has changed just like football ...money talks ! so we will never again see a boxer like Duran who fought was it 120 times in a pro career :think ... thats exceptional ! BUT if thats the case we will never see another great boxer ... PBF has fought a dozen marquee names during his career and only Oscar has come close to beating him that is his claim to being an ATG... and sometimes its how you win your fights not just the win itself ! ... people rave at all styles of fighter but one who is such a defensive artist for me that is the toughest skill in boxing ! ...
