Thanks, nice to have someone agree with me :good

The British posters mainly seem to see me as some kind of American nut-hugger and that's just not true, I just call it how it is, no nationalism, no bias, just honest facts.

Me n u wont agree on anything will we! Alright im not sure wht u no but i dnt no much about been a promoter, i no calzaghe is used alot by warren but seriously nobody wanted to fight Joe! and more fighters ducked calzaghe than calzaghe ducked them , mainly because they didnt want to be beaten by a unkown from newbridge wales , who also didnt offer enough money for them! Calzaghe could of left Warren but where would he go? he was already earning money n he thought warren was doing his best to get the fights when he clearly wasnt! Like if you had a full time job and earning loads of money and a easy going boss would you just leave! Calzaghe had the ability to do it and its shame he is only getting the exposure now!

so all these fights which u mentioned i hve a total different outcome on hopkins and toney but agree with u on jones , anyways Il catch ya l8rs m8 n al probs argue with ya on another calzaghe thread later

That I agree with, heartily. He should face Dawson, not BHop.

And i understand your poins re hyping of Floyd by US media.

And I understand the point that a fighter is good or bad regardless of who he has demonstrated this against.

But even taking all this into account, I would rank Floyd ahead of Joe as a boxer, by a razor thin margin, say on a relative scale 1001:1000.

And , on that same scale , no-one else cracks 950.

You think Hopkins and Toney would have struggled with Calzaghe at 168 in their respective primes? Yep, I'm with you mate, let's not argue any more :rasta

All I'll say is go on youtube and look up some fights....

He was a fight weight champ In divisions with a weight difference of 7 pounds or less really, Roy winning from Middle to heavy Is more Impressive due to bigger weight differences.

Because Floyd has beat p4p rated opponenets, Calzaghe ever has. Not one. Hes lucky to be rated as high as he is.

    Bernard?

In 1988, be began began at 175 and lost his first ever fight to someone whose name I've forgotten.

He promptly moved down to 168 and won four fights fights against four nobodies, not one of whom had a winning record.

Then he moved down again to 160 and fought i8 unheard-ofs, 9 of whom had a winning record. Then, in 1993, in his first title fight, he he lost to a green Roy Jones.

Five fights later, he fought Mercado for the title Roy vacated when he moved up. The result was a split decision draw. Bernard won the Rematch and his first title in 1995.

He defended the 160 (adding the missing title pieces) 20 times. His most notable wins were against Oscar (who had fought at 130 and had no business being in there, and Tito, a 147 lber who had one previous 160lb fight. ( IMO, His best win during that time was over Glenn Johnson). For this, I rank Bernard as an ATG.

Calzaghe pressed for a fight with Bernard early in 2002.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/low/wales/1991289.stm

Bernard was the main reason the fight didn't happen. And not because of fear, but greed. A purse was agreed upon, and then Bernard wanted it doubled. (He was flush with success when his name-recognition took a leap from defeating Tito.) Greed also cost him a rematch with Roy.

At that point, Joe's resume was probably better, or at least as good as bernard's, but his name was unknown in the US.

    According to SHOWTIME'S Jay Larkin:

    This content is protected

So yes, a calzaghe-Hopkins fight would have been great in 2002, but you can't put the blame on Joe for it not happening.

The last fight Toney won at SMW was in July, 1994. He lost his last ever SMW fight to Roy in November, 1994. After that, he steadily gained weight and fought in other divisions at weights up to 240.

In July of 1994, Joe had fought six times. By November, he had seven fights. He wasn't even a contender yet for a SMW title.

When was he supposed to have fought Toney ?

Both Toney and BHop are legendary fighters, but at 168, prime for prime, I would pick Joe.

It's hard to see HOW Toney could have happened.

Bernard could have done the fight and been competitive five years ago. He chose to chase Monzon's record, little Oscar and one-shot-wonder Tarver.

At present, I hope Calzaghe fights Dawson or Pavlik/Taylor.

Bernard's scalp would bring a lot more prestige among casual fans, but would be meaningless in comparison to the other three.

One thing I can definitely say -- in my opinion Joe Calzaghe is way more exciting to watch. Joe wins on entertainment value every time, but I rate both fighters very highly. Joe is one of the best on the planet, no question. Disagree all you want, my mind was made up long ago.

I did not agree where some ranked the two, I ranked Kessler higher than Hatton before their last fights. He was handling challengers easily while defending his titles: showing great offense, defense and power. You cannot say the same about Hatton in the 3 fights leading up to Floyd. He almost lost to Collazo, looked sloppy and exausted against Urango, I do give credit for that liver pisser he blasted OLD Castillo with though. Plus Kessler did not move up a weight class to take on Calzeghe as did Hatton with Floyd. The second part of my post mentioned how Hatton went out on his shield. He was very brave. I do not like to say this, but Hatton fought a horrible tactical fight, leading with his face. Do seriously doubt he couldn't have gone 12 rounds if that was his primary goal? Calzaghe beating Kessler > Floyd beating Hatton, no doubt in my mind. Floyds still #1 but by less than before the two fights.

Yes, Joe's defence is definitelly far far superior to Floyd. Joe Calzaghe is also the greatest human being that has ever lived and quite possibly is the new prophet.
