Then why did Floyd say Canelo is the future of boxing? I'd say Canelo's strength is his boxing ability, his high ring IQ and his ability to adjust on the fly. Against Floyd, Canelo did adjust on the fly to what Floyd was doing. Canelo's attack wasn't scripted like most fighters who fight Floyd.

He used his boxing skills to set traps and forced Floyd to be the aggressor at times. He used mind games, mind games that other fighters vs Floyd don't try.

Yeah but you have to be successful with those traps,I saw no success in what Canelo did .

Marginal success I would say. More success over the course of the 12 round distance than Floyd's other opponents. He had more "close rounds" vs Floyd than any fighter since Castillo I.

Not over Cotto ,Canelo didn't have nearly the success Cotto had but then again Cotto did have more experience .

Cotto did have some success but not as many close rounds as was in Canelo Floyd. I think it's splitting hairs, both Cotto and Canelo had success and it really subjective what you prefer. i.e. Cotto took more damage than Canelo did, but also landed a few more harder shots on Floyd than Canelo did.

Canelo vs Floyd was more of a thinking man's chess match fight than Cotto vs Floyd. Also it's hard to compare because one was at 154 and the other was at an absurd 152. Regardless, if you look the scorecards, it was closer, even Moretti had it 116-112. That's a close fight. What can't be disputed was that Floyd won more rounds clearly vs Cotto than he did vs Canelo. In my mind, Floyd only won 1 round clearly vs Canelo. (it was a huge round for Floyd though), the rest really were close if you study it and could have went either way.

Styles make fights but Floyd is partially correct....not anyone could have done what he did against Nelo. Floyd was just the superior boxer on every level. He was faster, smarter, more experienced ect.....but on top of that....Canelo had a style that was tailor made for Floyd.

Just looking at common opponents between Floyd and PAC....Hatton and Cotto Floyd had trouble with....yet Manny made both of those guys look like sparring partners. Floyd put on a clinic against JMM....PAC fought 3 razor close fights and ended up Knocked out in the 4th meeting.
