Mayweather cant sell tickets period. Its all in the news. When theres smoke theres fire. He wont fight Mosley and chose Marquez coz he brags Marquez has an entire nation of Mexico backing him up. So following his line of argument, if the fight on on the 19th draws considerable ppv, Marquez should get the credit. As simple as that.
Besides Dlh and Tyson, who else can carry a ppv event today or in recent years, and do big ppv numbers without a big name opponent?
Maybe on his own he can't. BUT it was with him where DLH & Hatton made the most number that's a FACT. He's the best villain that can generate much for a fight.
Name all the bad ppv's Floyd participated in all by himself lol. You guys are saying it, so now show us the evidence lol...
Big ****ing deal. I haven't bothered to look at the numbers so for the sake of argument I'll assume that you're correct and I'll say that Floyd made the biggest PPV ever a boring fight that I couldn't even sit through for a second time to rescore. Fans were walking out of the arena when this great attraction called Floyd Mayweather fought Carlos Baldomir. If paying to see a guy fight is a vote for them then what the hell is walking out of their fight before it's even over? For the record, I didn't even buy that **** fight. I watched Klitschko/Brock instead and Wladimir did what you're supposed to do against an overmatched opponent. He stopped him. Floyd Mayweather is a dominant champion but how dominant would he be say against a guy like Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley? You know, guys his size. Fighting Marquez is an insult to the fans. The crazy thing is that people fall for it and readily hand over their money to see what is basically a farce disguised as a legitimate fight. Floyd winning a title at 154 means nothing. He beat a De La Hoya that hasn't been relevant in years. Now granted, there weren't many options for Floyd at 154 outside of maybe Vernon Forrest (R.I.P.) so I can understand the decision to move back down to 147. Who does he fight at 147? A Ricky Hatton that was hurt 2 or 3 times by the light-hitting Luis Collazo in his only fight at welterweight. Hatton was clearly out of is depth at 147 and Floyd knew that. The guy is all about matchmaking and earning the most money with the least risk attached. He's become a showfighter, a legit fighter facing not-so-legit opposition while the real fighters sort each other out.
And another thing. Floyd should never even utter Miguel Cotto's name again unless he's gonna fight him cuz while he's been "retired" Cotto's been facing real opponents like Mosley, Margarito, and Clottey. You know...earning those paychecks.
I know lol. Now who is going to post those terrible ppv numbers/fight that Floyd was involved in...ALL BY HIMSELF? What this poster said has been said before about Floyd a gazillion times over.
Cotto didn't want the fight when Floyd came hollerin at 140, so who gives a fuk what you say about Floyd lol...
This poster can't even decipher what it is you are trying to say as your post is incoherent at best. I give you cold hard facts about Floyd's cherrypicking and you bring up the fact that I don't know the numbers regarding the DLH fight. Who cares whether I know the numbers or not? I don't have to know the numbers to know whose name carried that PPV (DLH). I thought Tyson/Holyfield or Tyson/Lewis was the highest. Both valid guesses I should point out. So I didn't know. Big deal. Floyd is lucky to have people like you under his spell. He can fight Oscar Larios and you'll be finding ways to give him credit.
This thread is about Hatton saying Floyd can't sell tickets. Now you telling us about your sorry ass cold hard facts has nothing to do with this thread, and it is your opinion. Now either Arum couldn't promote Floyd when he had him, or Floyd does terrible ppv numbers. And stop lying about not knowing if Tyson-Lewis did the most ppv sales. You've been on this site it says since 2005. If you didn't hear that Dlh-Floyd did the biggest ppv numbers ever then you haven't been watching boxing. You were sitting in a lab writing this slop of mess you just couldn't wait to post about Floyd. You are posting your opinion, AND THAT'S IT! I don't give a fuk who you believe sold the Dlh-Floyd fight. Dlh sold the Dlh-Tito fight as well huh lol... Floyd has me under his spellnut... That is something a ****** armchair fan who never boxed would say.
:rofl:good Sometimes, some people dont understand how the current public perception is reacting to an event. All they know is to bring in previous numbers on the analysis to make a point. In business, its all about good product and good marketing tool. Thats why DLH is learning, moving the fight to Mexican Independence day to boost ticket and ppv sales.
