Hopkins movement, smothering and use of angles is too good to allow Pavlik to be set and really get off like he is use to. Pavlik will throw less than half of what he normally throws...Mark my words.
I can imagine the Calzaghe-ducked-Pavlik lunatics spinning their wheels right now. I mean, how would they be able to praise Pavlik's win over a great champion after they've bashed Calzaghe's win over a has-been when the "champion" and the "has-been" happen to be the same boxer? :think
Hopkins' right hand leads/counters are going to be so accurate. I just don't think he will throw enough to win.
Maybe to the untrained eye. I was fascinated by Calzaghe-Hopkins. I think this fight will be awesome. Not spectacular by any means, but absolutely fascinating.
Probably...tho I didnt find the Tarver fight boring...where he did just that (used angles and movement to cut his opponents workrate and create openings). I can see this fight happening in a similar way. (tho I dont really find any Hopkins fights boring tho....so...)
Hopkins nearly beat Joe and made him look bad. I like his chances against Kelly. That beard of Nard will not get cracked like Taylor. The only chance Pavlik has is outworking Ex late. I like Hopkins about 60/40 though Kelly has a shot.
I completely disagree with that statement, if anything it will help Joe. If Hopkins beats Pavlik it means Calzaghe has no pressure on him to take the fight. Joe can just say he beat B-Hop and B-Hop beat Pavlik, and Pavlik is out of Joe's league. And a lot of people will claim Kelly was a hype-job, too. Joe can jusr retire after the Jones fight if that happens.
Accuracy = Hopkins Ring Generalship = Hopkins Dirty fighting = Hopkins Use of angles = Hopkins Footwork = Hopkins Movement (defensive and offensive) = Hopkins We could honestly keep going, but what will that prove???
I just read on another website that Edner Cherry knocked out Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a club in Vegas. The dispute was about backpay Cherry thought was owed to him from sparring.
I don't really like this fight for Pavlik. It's a no-win situation. First of all, Pavlik hasn't had a problem making 160. Middleweight is a historical division - he should stay at middleweight for 2-3 years - make 8-10 defenses - clean out the division - and lay claim to being one of the top 5 middleweights of all time. Why take a fight at 170 if you're going to go back down in weight??? I think Pavlik will beat Hopkins rather easily if puts on 10 pounds of muscle - like Hopkins did against Tarver. But what if it's not muscle weight??? Then he's going to be a bit sluggish. And Hopkins is NOT fan friendly at this stage of his career. Aside from the first round against JC, Hopkins stunk up the place with his Ruiz tactics. As exciting as Pavlik is, Hopkins can make the fight unwatchable. And if Pavlik wins - he won't get any credit for it - unless he wins by KO. And I think Hopkins would fake a low blow injury before it comes to that.
