Hatton was cheated couse Cortez didn't let him do the wrestle/grab and punch/rabbit punching ****. I didn't hear the whining from you Brits when Ricky was doing all that **** in his fights. Mayweather just played Ricky's game and won despite Hatton having a huge experience advantage in this department.
cortez could have dance around butt naked in the ring for all i care and it would still have the same result. pbf by ko.
Watch any Ricky Hatton fight and watch him breaking the following rules: 1. Hitting and holding (more illegal than anything Mayweather did in the film) 2. Wrestling 3. Excessive clinching 4. Low Blowing (he said he hoped the low blow against Tyszu helped him win the fight) Hatton tried to excessively clinch and wrestle and was stopped from doing so. Its his own fault for becoming known as 'hit and hold' Hatton, the ref has to clamp down on cheating. Mayweather bent the rules a little but not anything like as much as Ricky does in an average fight
Hatton was doing anything once he got on the inside , a fact that was brought up in his own corner . Hatton tried to push and pull floyd into exhaustion and it didn't work, Hatton seriously overlooked floyd physical strength , he and his corner played into the hype, that Hatton was the stronger fighter and he would be able to bull Floyd through out the fight.. Hatton was frustrated because he realized he was sold a load bull, that he honestly believe he had the answer for..
While I agree with all the " pro-mayweather" stuff on this post and I also agree that this topic really should be dead by now I was wondering why Mayweather gets away with ther use of the fore-arm so much. I have watched his whole career upto and including Hatton over the last few weeks and he got a point deducted in 1 fight and numerous warnings in others yet seems to do it all the time. However all that said when you go back and watch what mayweather has done over the years and the quality fighters he has destroyed I deffo agrtee that regardless of the ref , location , ring size whatever Flloyd beats Ricky 999 times out of 1000 the guy can do it all !
that video is a bit of an eye opener - i remember watching the post fight interview where hatton talked about floyd's little fowls and i thought you can't complain! but all the eblows are worse than clinching any day of the week
Exactly they underestimated PBF's toughness and strenght in this fight. They thought they would push PBF around bang him to the body and make him quit but they couldn't have been more wrong.
Your right, body shots have rarely worked with Mayweather, because he blocks most of them with his forearms. Hatton is usually able to bully his opponents, as he did Tszyu, and to a lesser extent Castillo (because he got him out early) and uses this as an advantage - Mayweather wouldn't have looked all that daunting physically, so he gave it a go. For five/six rounds it was working reasonably well, he admitted all along that there was no point trying to outbox Mayweather, nobody could do that, so try to bully him a bit, rough him up and wear him down, with the intention of stopping him late on - either through throwing bombs in 11th & 12th, or by some other means. It didn't work from then onwards (fifth/sixth), and he was taken out fairly and squarely. Cortez did suck, but it wouldn't have made that much difference - Hatton actually got in too close and smothered his own work too much, also allowing the 'stray' elbows and forearms to have an impact on him from Mayweather. If the fight happened again, Ricky wouldn't have got in as close as he did, and wouldn't have lost his rag as there would have been no points deduction. Still not sure whether I see him winning though.
A lot of the **** Floyd did was reaction to Ricky falling in reckless and trying to protect him self all the while fight his fight...it would have been a different fight had Ricky picked his spots better and let his hands go more instead of depending on the ref to let him fight inside because even when he had his moments on this inside he still didn't make the best of them.
If you look closely, you can see Joe Cortez sticking his foot out when Hatton goes towards FMJ. The stumbling plus the check hook led to Hatton falling foward where Joe Cortez donned an invisible cloak to slam Hatton into the ring post.
At times in the fight though, Ricky looked quite good on the outside, perhaps Floyd was expecting an inside fight and prepared for it, I don't know. The Castillo KO set it all off - 'I am the best inside fighter of all' etc, Ricky is very good inside, but underestimates his boxing skills on the outside, and therefore rarely uses them - for the first five or so against Urango he looked good, before resorting to hugging for some reason.
as a floyd fan i definitely saw the elbows as he does it in most fights where fighters try and get rough...its a protection tactic and a tactic to keep the other fighter off balance and uncomfortable...i dont think he goes into fights saying he will look to use it but i just think its a counter to the rough housing tactics that are said to aid in beating him......the whole plan for Rick was to rough house and tried a lot and hence you seen a lot of elbows.....fact is he we know he wins even without the illegal stuff...rick on the other hand....well he uses illegal tactics everytime
