He still waited until Cotto passed his prime, after the Mosley fight was the perfect time to pull the trigger on this fight imo. Floyd needs to have all the advantages though and feels (rightly so) that Miguel is past it.

Aye, that's exactly what I'm saying. Apart from Cotto being past it. He ain't past it, past his best, but not past "it".

I think he is past it as far as p4p terms go like he was 3 or 4 years ago, this fight would have been massive in that time but sadly Floyd does cherrypick, the fight is still big but in name terms only now.

Cotto vs Floyd 4 years back would of been great. Miguel had his flaws but he was fresh still and his boxing at times was lovely. TBH his boxing against Margo in first fight for 6 rounds was so good Floyd would of been impressed with that level of skill. Sadly he struggles to maintain it. This is still a decent fight but annoying cos again like many Floyd fights is part it's sell by date.

Do you think Cotto has slipped that much? I know he's slipped, but I do think that his decline has been somewhat overstated. He's not been the same since Marg' I, but is still a quality fighter and bordering on Top 10 P4P.

  6. I think Marquez vs Cotto would be a good fight.

Floyd is just too smart, he'll stop Cotto in the late rounds.

Haven't we already heard that Cotto say he never tried to fight Mayweather before? Do you think Bob Arum would have made this fight? Its not a coicidence that this fight didn't happen before now. Its not either mans fault. It would not have happened before.

that would be entertaining as fuk. Plus the mexican v rican rivalry.

mayweather v cotto may end up like floyd v marquez. Pretty one sided and cautious.

Controversial. But Cotto may end up looking less competitive than Marquez. JM Marquez actually caught Floyd with a peach of a right hand on the ropes, which made Floyd go into his shell and abandone any thoughts of going for the stoppage, which he was trying to do before that. He will walk Cotto down without much worries.

probably on my own here but i reckon Cotto will be competitive with Floyd, when watching his training vids and in their fight with Margarito (2nd fight) he looked like he got that spark back, The Eye of the Tiger, seems to work well with his new trainer as well. Don't think he'll win but won't be as 1 sided as some people think, IMO anyway;)

Cotto does have the timing (at least early on before his tiredness leads to his form slipping) to get to Floyd. He'll look fine for the first five or six rounds, then Floyd will pick him apart. The reason I don't see a stoppage is that Cotto is defensively capable and good on his feet, and he hits hard enough that Floyd won't risk opening up unless he has Miguel in serious trouble.

I think it will be Cotto's timing that will make Floyd cautious early on. He doesn't like getting hit, so he makes sure he's in control until he knows he can open up without repercussion.

And I can't see Cotto offering the same opening that Ortiz did. He's just too balanced emotionally when he fights.

No, not really. Mayweather retired rather than fight Cotto or Margarito.

The only time Floyd wanted to fight Cotto before now was when he was too green to have seriously taken the fight.

So both times Floyd changed his demands over drug testing and scuppered the fight, despite everything being agreed, were in fact Arum's fault?

Come on... Bob might be a problem at times, but this fight would have happened two years ago if Floyd hadn't started making up **** about Pac.

Better than Margarito vs Cotto face off..? Are you messin..? Floyd Mayweather is boring, he's not really sadistic like Antonio Margarito or mysterious Miguel Cotto. And Mayweather's banter/humour is never funny for example.? Like David Haye's.

I'm playing some money on Miguel Cotto to beat Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather was pressured into this fight, Mayweather only takes fights he 100% mentally is confidant that he can win..? Thats not a bad thing it just shows that he is a Winner and calculated. Mayweather these days, wants respect from his critics deep down. Miguel Cotto at 154 is a tougher fight for Mayweather than Manny Pac by miles! Miles!
