one handed Cotto and his overrated jab would get stopped. Cotto had no idea what to do against a shelled defenseless Pacquiao, what could he do against a defense as complicated as Mayweather? On top of that, add Cotto stamina problems vs Mayweathers incredible stamina...this fight is a mismatch. Also, make no mistake, Mayweather is no longer a "small WW" he's filled out well into this weight class. He would not get bullied in this fight.

Cotto still has a stronger jab, but Floyd's will get there first. Neither is a fast starter, but I think Cotto will be the aggressor and throw more, while Floyd lands and pop shots the cleaner hits. By midfight Floyd lands some really clean shots, even hurts Miguel, but Cotto ties him up and survives. Then Cotto awakens and throws some combinations that surprise Floyd and stagger Floyd, but Floyd weathers the storm. The final rounds Floyd continues to jab Junito and opens a cut on Cotto. I think even today it will still be a competitive fight, but Floyd should take this one by decision. The interesting thing is Cotto's been tko'd, but never outboxed or ko'd, so he's gonna definitely give anyone other than Manny a tough fight. Cotto would also have the piece of mind knowing Floyd is not the puncher Manny or Margarito are so he might throw alot more punches, fighting more aggressively. Another interesting thing is Cotto is a very good bodypuncher, something not many fighters have tried on Floyd. So even today Cotto still brings an element of danger to Floyd.

lmao? Cotto body punches were neutralized against his top opponents. Margarito, Pac, and Clottey. Cotto is one of the most overrated fighters of this decade. He takes a good beating well. He's a one handed fighter with an overated jab. His footwork is terrible. His defense is terrible. He was rocked by Foreman multiple times. He has terrible stamina. He makes no adjustments. He's Mayweather easiest opponent out there.

Quick trivia question. What do all the fighters mentioned in your post have in common?
One is Mayweather, and the other four are all guys Mayweather never fought. So cut out the bull**** about "so and so did such and such to so and so, so that means Floyd would school him". Cause that's nonsense.
Whenever Floyd shows he's man enough to fight at least one of those guys, then you might be able to begin to compare his skill with the others. But as it is, they're all fighting each other and he ain't getting anywhere near any of them. Floyd's a coward and a chump, con artist of a champ. And you're his punk ***** for defending him.

Cotto already beat Mayweather 2 years ago via fake retirement/welterweight division duck.

Money May all day, Floyd stops Cotto on cuts in 10 rounds. Cotto, has no skill to hang with Floyd, NONE! This fight is a mismatch.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Chavez was actually up by the 7th round; and Floyd hasn't faced another fighter like that besides a blown up Marquez

    Get the **** outta here

cotto can't even handle floyd's jockstrap. He'd get busted up with floyd's pinpoint accurate jabs for the whole night

    Just like slower sloppier castillo?

Oh wait... that's right. Castillo beat the younger more agile version of floyd without his jab.

    hmmmm.

CAstillo is 5'10 and weighed 10 more lbs then a 24 year old Mayweather moving up for the first time in weight. Bringing up Mayweathers struggles while injured is like bringing up Manny Pacquiaos KO losses now, completey different fighter.

Mayweather is bigger then Cotto now, just as strong, faster, smarter, better defense, it would be a shut out. Dont rule out a bloody stoppage either.

Oh wait, that fight was 8 years ago, obviously Mayweather didn't get smarter and improve as a fighter since then.

Oh wait... Mayweather won that fight with a bum shoulder.

Oh wait...then Maywather gave him an immediate rematch and beat him again.

what's the point of this thread again?

Cotto is not retired, Mayweather is not retired - at least that is what everybody assumes. They are both in the same division.

    Just sign the dotted line........

Debates are useless in boxing. You might be right the entire 35 minutes and 50 seconds of the fight and one properly placed punch in the last 10 seconds and the 99.9 percent of the time that you are right won't even matter.

I doubt that this fight is going to happen. He will face Khan in England next year, around May or Fraud Mayneverfight again.
