Why is greatness always based on KO's and knockdowns? I mean love a good KO just as much as anyone but I can equally appreciate the art of hit and not get hit. As for the hypothetical match, I have Floyd winning by a wide UD. He won't knock down Cotto but he will most likely make him look confused, almost like an amateur. Reason being Cotto's footwork and ability to adjust isn't up to par with Mayweather's. But I'm a fan of both fighters so I'm not going to complain if Cotto pulls off an upset. It's a win-win situation for me.

Btw, I really think you should pull away from being such an obsessive PacWeather maniac. Boxing isn't always about Floyd and Pac. Constantly making ridiculous threads about them really suggest you appear as the character in your avatar. Just sayin.

Ya he just beat the guy recognized as the welterweight champion I just said that you donut salesman. I don't want to see Cotto vs Mayweather, the world wants to see Mayweather vs Pacquiao and Mayweather is going to be 34 years old soon. I rather not spend 60 bucks for ppv to watch Floyd embarrass a shot Cotto.

wtf are you talking about? When has Floyd not went after the kill and "backed off"? Please name me a fight. If you look at the Mosley fight, it was Mosley who was trying to survive and Floyd pressessing the attack even more during the rounds 9,10,12 and 12.

I agree with you that all Mayweather has to face is Pac but Mayweather does not seem to agree with either of us.

It is so nice to be on vacation.

Unfortunatley your post is divided into two parts. It makes more sense putting them in 1 single posts rather than two fragmented ones.

I read the first part then I realized that there is another part after trying to understand a fragmented one. Mea culpa.

Most people agree that Mayweather had Mosley hurt a few times, and that if Mayweather were more aggressive he might well have been able to go in for the kill.

Cotto is certainly more vulnerable than Mosley.

    You do the math.

Speed kills, and so does accuracy. Just because Mayweather isn't constantly aggressive like Pacquiao and Margarito doesn't mean that his shots wouldn't accumulate damage on Cotto and probably cut him up. (Also, don't forget that Mayweather is Cotto's own size, unlike Pacquiao...and far more accurate than Margarito). I agree that a Mayweather decision is more likely, but a late mercy stoppage is in no way out of the question.

so what happened in the mosley fight? i can give you a recent one like the marquez fight where he even failed to stop the little man even if jmm was the one moving forward. so you guys think now floyd is capable of stopping cotto now late when pac and margo both needed 11 and 12 rounds?

i would bet more on cotto getting the decision than floyd getting the stoppage. yes there is a chance but in order for it to happen, cotto must be out of his mind and keep repeating to get inside floyd when he is countered. cotto is a very good boxer and if he thinks he is ahead or he was hurt, he will just box around. so there is a little to no chance that floyd would win this by late stoppage.

Marquez doesn't come forward hence no opportunities to hurt him with counter punches. Cotto will have to come inside on Floyd to have any chance of winning at all, Cotto would get shutout trying to outbox Floyd from the outside.

are you kidding me? please watch the fight again and it was the little man marquez who was coming forward all the time and it was floyd trying to counter.

Meh Marquez tried bringing the fight to Mayweather as much as he could in tiny spurts. He stood in front of Mayweather way too much trying to box for large portions of that fight and just got pot shot the entire night from the outside. Cotto would be coming in trying to impose his will the entire night and he's taken some viscous beatings as of late so his chin is seriously questionable after all that punishment.
