Could Cotto with Roach in his corner beat Mayweather in a rematch? Or would the result be the same?

Floyd would be the one to have improved more with his dad in his corner

A more aggressive Cotto takes more of a beating in a rematch. Outside of a cash grab, there is no need to make this fight again.

No, because the major consistentcy in all fighters Roach coaches is lack of defense and a plan b/c. I think thats Roach's biggest downfall as a coach. And youre not going to beat Mayweather with out the ability to adapt, either on your own or instruction from your corner and some semblance of defense. Pure aggressiveness is not going to get it done.

i agree..most of roaches stable is mostly agression with no plan b/c/d etc....not much of an adapting neither.

I would see the result as being the same, but IF Cotto has really recaptured some of the ferocity he had at the lower weights, I could see him pushing Floyd more than he did in the 1st fight. Although it could also serve to open him up for more punishment himself. I must admit to be curious to see it.

cotto is the most intelligent fighter floyd has fought.

    he has the most depth.

no one has landed on floyd as much.

no one has made floyd miss as much.

with all that being said...i believe cotto's plan with pedro diaz was flawed. diaz had him leaning on his front foot and blocking punches rather than slipping and rolling shots. cotto still slipped and rolled in spots....but with the leaning in he blinded himself by blocking and made it easy for floyd to pot shot him down the stretch. had cotto made floyd miss a little more...and thrown to the body a little more...the outcome could have been way different. cotto got the clean headshots because of the body work early...but he would abandon it and go head hunting which allowed floyd to take over.

a rematch would look extremely different. floyd has used his legs more with his pops back in the corner...but make no mistake about it...cotto will get him to the ropes and have his moments again.

might be a good one. But lets see how Cotto looks against someone a bit better than Delvin - no disrespect intended

why cotto gets so much praise?

but yes.Bob Arum is genious, again fooling people.Big payday for cotto, and after the fight people will say cotto is washed up.

it's so unbelievable that 2012 cotto was washed up and past his prime, but now winning against rordiguez people think cotto is agains in prime.

can wee see cotto fight somebody even half decent next, before we start to discuss this.

pac wins against rios, and i could see cotto-pacquaio 2. both Top Rank fighters, both have huge name, both are little bit washed up,and in both cases Bob Arum is genious.feeding these C-level opponents to them look great.sadly people will buy the hype.and the winner of this match is definetly again the one to dethrone floyd.sadly people will never learn

I had the same conversation with my father a few months back as we watched the fight a few times in the row over a few brews.

Cotto had his hands way out front, which helped with the blocking the lead right but also opened for hooks around the guard and some what imparing his vision as you stated earlier.

We also noted that he some what abandoned the body work and went head hunting which everone does on Floyd with little luck since FMJr. defense is second to none.

    Great analysis!
