After re-watching the Hatton - Mayweather fight I saw a couple of things that don't point to Mayweather - Cotto, we are talking about Hatton's promoter for this fight : De La Hoya. Before the fight a few people were asking questions about De La Hoya's interest in fighting Hatton and his big involvement with the fight, whether there was anything below the board going on. We had it wrong folks. Contrary to De La Hoya's backing of Hatton, it might be the fact that De La Hoya's interests lay in Mayweather. Re-watching the fight I saw a couple of things. 1. The point deduction. When the point is deducted from Hatton, DLH can be seen in the background grinning. Not something you would do when the fighter you support and are looking to fight is docked a point in a close fight (at that stage). 2. The KO. Both DLH and Hopkins can clearly be seen in the background smiling with glee again. Again not something you would be doing when the fighter you are backing gets KOd into the ringpost. What does this point to? De La Hoya - Mayweather II. DLH still believes he can beat Mayweather (no chance in my opinion), and a rematch between these two would be an astronomical moneymaker after the publicity of Hatton-Mayweather. And Mayweather further hinted after the fight that he would fight again if the Golden Boy made the money right. One thing though: Golden Boy do not promote Cotto (Bob Arum). All this points to DLH - Mayweather II. With Cotto waiting in the sidelines, possibly fighting DLH first in May on cinco de mayo in a , mexico - puerto rico barnstormer. You heard it here first.
In addition to the 2 reasons above, reason number 3. : the incredibly wide judges scorecards. Hatton was never going to win the fight.
There were screencaps of Bernard making a 'NOOOOOO' face after Hatton got Ko'd, he was not grinning. Stop talking BS.
Exactly , what was he looking at. When the point was taking, DLH was pissed waving his hand as in saying bull****.
just had a quick look again, they were both complaining too, and the faces after the KO are not as clear as I thought, but if anyone knows how to take a screenshot on vlc let me know because DLH has a big smile when Hatton is docked, even thuogh he had jumped up with Hopkins
hopkins was complaining the whole fight for hatton...he kept standing complaining about the elbows.....bull**** thread
That looks more like "That is bull****, I can't believe it" grin of disbelief, not a happy grin. Your reading WAYY to much into a something so trivial.
what's your view on the massive points difference on the judges cards aswell then? they had Mayweather up by 8, I know it was a little 1 sided but not that much!
Truth be told I only had Hatton winning 2, the 2nd and 5th, I guess a case could be made for Hatton winning the 1st but I can definitley see where the judges were coming from, the 5th round is the only round that Hatton clearly won. And that was more down to Floyd not doing anything as opposed to Hatton creating chances. The scorecards were fair imo but it doesn't matter now due to the stoppage.
I agree, but the question is not whether it matters, just whether the judges were influenced towards Mayweather. Along with the ref, to ensure a Mayweather win and a rematch with DLH.
