I don't disagree with anything you wrote. However, still maintain that Cotto would be fighting Hoya right now if Floyd turned down the fight. As I've also wrote, this would hurt Floyd in regards to future negotiations with Cotto.

:good My problem is that Floyd is fighting for money, thats not the way to become truely great, and at this stage of his career, he should be taking all the toughest fights sooner rather than later

Please don't make me pull out the quote where Cotto's manager says that they prefer a fight with Hoya over Lil Floydbecause it's more marketable.

well, would you except more responsibility and headache at work and with out being compensated for it ??

I doubt Cotto is going to fight floyd if there was little reward in it for him, if he win then he can claim he beat the best but didn't get paid what he wanted to but if he loses and didn't payed, well that even worse.

I doubt ether fighter is willing to take that risk.

    Opinion, not fact.

You are saying your opinion, so I will also say mine: De la Hoya lost against Mosley, Sturm, Hopkins and Mayweather. He beat Whitaker and Trinidad.

With the exception of politicians, pretty much every working professional's main motivation is money.

When did I say it would sell more? The last fight did 2.4 million buys. I said this one would do at least 1 million buys.

I agree totally :good But lets face it, neither will be getting peanuts for facing each other, obviously both get more for facing ODLH, but Cotto beating floyd would send him to another planet, think of the money to be made in a rematch if that happened :hey

WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto doesn't call out other fighters and steadfastly maintains that he doesn't choose his opponents and he'll fight whomever Top Rank puts him in with. However, his uncle/manager/trainer Evangelista Cotto told El Nuevo Dia that a May 3 superfight with Oscar De La Hoya is clearly the preferred alternative for the unbeaten champion from Cauguas, Puerto Rico. "Right now a fight with De la Hoya is more marketable than one with Mayweather," said Evangelista, "even though De la Hoya lost to Mayweather in his last fight and Mayweather won last night against Hatton, De La Hoya remains the most marketable....the other names that have been mentioned to fight with Miguel do not compare economically with a fight with De la Hoya."

Why do you think Leonard fought for? Pride?

He fought Duran, Hearns and Hagler because he was going to receive money.

I agree, but Floyd goes on and on about his status in boxing, he still needs to fight Cotto and PW, and fighting Oscar, who he already beat, aint going to add to his greatness.

Do you think Oscar and Floyd have a Trilogy planned?
